Some useful classes of algebras --$tBackmatter 330 $aThe category of all modules over a general associative ring is too complex to admit any reasonable classification. Thus, unless the ring is of finite representation type, one must limit attempts at classification to some restricted subcategories of modules. The wild character of the category of all modules, or of one of its subcategories C is often indicated by the presence of a realization theorem, that is, by the fact that any reasonable algebra is isomorphic to the endomorphism algebra of a module from C. This results in the existence of pathological direct sum decompositions and these are generally viewed as obstacles to the classification. Realization theorems have thus become important indicators of the non-classification theory of modules. In order to overcome this problem, approximation theory of modules has been developed over the past few decades. The idea here is to select suitable subcategories C whose modules can be classified, and then to approximate arbitrary modules by ones from C. These approximations are neither unique nor functorial in general, but there is always a rich supply available appropriate to the requirements of various particular applications. Thus approximation theory has developed into an important part of the classification theory of modules. In this monograph the two methods are brought together. First the approximation theory of modules is developed and some of its recent applications, notably to infinite dimensional tilting theory, are presented. Then some prediction principles from set theory are introduced and these become the principal tools in the establishment of appropriate realization theorems. The monograph starts from basic facts and gradually develops the theory towards its present frontiers. It is suitable both for graduate students interested in algebra and for experts in module and representation theory. 410 0$aGruyter expositions in mathematics ;$v41. 606 $aModules (Algebra) 606 $aModuli theory 606 $aApproximation theory 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aModules (Algebra) 615 0$aModuli theory. 615 0$aApproximation theory. 676 $a512/.42 700 $aGo?bel$b R$g(Ru?diger),$f1940-$060070 701 $aTrlifaj$b Jan$01045226 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910451244703321 996 $aApproximations and endomorphism algebras of modules$92471324 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03761nam 22007212 450 001 9910783284203321 005 20151005020621.0 010 $a1-107-13688-1 010 $a0-511-06204-4 010 $a1-280-43649-2 010 $a9786610436491 010 $a0-511-17912-X 010 $a1-139-14899-0 010 $a0-511-05571-4 010 $a0-511-32377-8 010 $a0-511-53502-3 010 $a0-511-07050-0 035 $a(CKB)1000000000018470 035 $a(EBL)218244 035 $a(OCoLC)228111085 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000182429 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11938994 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000182429 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10172093 035 $a(PQKB)11013988 035 $a(UkCbUP)CR9780511535024 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL218244 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10070303 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL43649 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC218244 035 $a(PPN)190408456 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000018470 100 $a20090429d2003|||| uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aIntroduction to classical integrable systems /$fOlivier Babelon, Denis Bernard, Michel Talon$b[electronic resource] 210 1$aCambridge :$cCambridge University Press,$d2003. 215 $a1 online resource (xi, 602 pages) $cdigital, PDF file(s) 225 1 $aCambridge monographs on mathematical physics 300 $aTitle from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 05 Oct 2015). 311 $a0-521-03670-4 311 $a0-521-82267-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $g1.$tIntroduction --$g2.$tIntegrable dynamical systems --$g3.$tSynopsis of integrable systems --$g4$tAlgebraic methods --$g5.$tAnalytical methods --$g6.$tThe closed Toda chain -- 7.$tThe Calogero-Moser model --$g8.$tIsomonodromic deformations --$g9.$tGrassmannian and integrable hierarchies --$g10.$tThe KP hierarchy --$g11.$tThe KdV hierarchy --$g12.$tThe Toda field Theories --$g13$tClassical inverse scattering method --$g14.$tSymplectic geometry --$g15.$tRiemann surfaces --$g16.$tLie algebras. 330 $aThis book provides a thorough introduction to the theory of classical integrable systems, discussing the various approaches to the subject and explaining their interrelations. The book begins by introducing the central ideas of the theory of integrable systems, based on Lax representations, loop groups and Riemann surfaces. These ideas are then illustrated with detailed studies of model systems. The connection between isomonodromic deformation and integrability is discussed, and integrable field theories are covered in detail. The KP, KdV and Toda hierarchies are explained using the notion of Grassmannian, vertex operators and pseudo-differential operators. A chapter is devoted to the inverse scattering method and three complementary chapters cover the necessary mathematical tools from symplectic geometry, Riemann surfaces and Lie algebras. The book contains many worked examples and is suitable for use as a textbook on graduate courses. It also provides a comprehensive reference for researchers already working in the field. 410 0$aCambridge monographs on mathematical physics. 606 $aDynamics 606 $aHamiltonian systems 615 0$aDynamics. 615 0$aHamiltonian systems. 676 $a531/.163 700 $aBabelon$b Olivier$f1951-$060489 702 $aBernard$b Denis$f1961- 702 $aTalon$b Michel$f1952- 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910783284203321 996 $aIntroduction to classical integrable systems$93738545 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05805nam 2200841Ia 450 001 9910791287903321 005 20230721012029.0 010 $a1-4696-0529-5 010 $a0-8078-9852-X 035 $a(CKB)2560000000007222 035 $a(EBL)475178 035 $a(OCoLC)496114512 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000338143 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11256572 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000338143 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10295690 035 $a(PQKB)11174092 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC475178 035 $a(OCoLC)966263617 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)muse48659 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL475178 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10343539 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL930303 035 $a(EXLCZ)992560000000007222 100 $a20090420d2009 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aGive my poor heart ease$b[electronic resource] $evoices of the Mississippi blues /$fWilliam Ferris 210 $aChapel Hill $cUniversity of North Carolina Press$dc2009 215 $a1 online resource (319 p.) 225 0 $aH. Now, Give My Poor Heart Ease puts front and center a searing selection of the artistically and emotionally rich voices from this invaluable documentary record. Illustrated with Ferris's photographs of the musicians and their communities and including a CD of original music and a DVD of original film, the book features more than twenty interviews.... 410 0$aH.
