Summary and Conclusions -- $tIndex 330 $aAlthough a strong indicator of social status, home ownership has rarely emerged as a topic in social inequality research. This book compares twelve countries?the United States, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Israel?to determine the interdependence of social inequality and homeownership attainment over the life course. Examining countries that are similar with respect to socioeconomic development, but different in regard to their housing policies, the authors show that housing policies matter and are largely consistent with a country?s general approach in the provision of welfare. This book presents a valuable contribution to the social stratification literature, which traditionally has neglected the dimension of home ownership. It goes beyond most housing studies by adopting a life-course framework and longitudinal approach. The empirical findings provide evidence that in all countries under study?even those of the social democratic welfare regime type?labor market position matters in one?s chances to become a homeowner. 410 0$aStudies in social inequality. 606 $aHome ownership 606 $aSocial stratification 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aHome ownership. 615 0$aSocial stratification. 676 $a305.5/12 701 $aKurz$b Karin$0869110 701 $aBlossfeld$b Hans-Peter$0122487 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910450051303321 996 $aHome ownership and social inequality in comparative perspective$91940233 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01314oam 2200397zu 450 001 996212388903316 005 20210807003740.0 035 $a(CKB)2400000000003073 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000452364 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12182366 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000452364 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10468437 035 $a(PQKB)11151488 035 $a(NjHacI)992400000000003073 035 $a(EXLCZ)992400000000003073 100 $a20160829d2009 uy 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$a2009 International Workshop Terahertz and Mid Infrared Radiation: Basic Research and Practical Applications 210 31$a[Place of publication not identified]$cI E E E$d2009 215 $a1 online resource (54 pages) 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 $a1-4244-3848-9 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 606 $aElectromagnetic waves$vCongresses 615 0$aElectromagnetic waves 676 $a539.2 702 $aIEEE Staff 801 0$bPQKB 906 $aPROCEEDING 912 $a996212388903316 996 $a2009 International Workshop Terahertz and Mid Infrared Radiation: Basic Research and Practical Applications$92546655 997 $aUNISA
