However, in a remarkable transition, they were reconciled seventeen years later and went on to establish a highly successful religious order in north Italy. The Humiliati have been accorded little attention in previous studies both because of their local nature and because of the suppression of the Order in 1571, after one of their number made a disastrous attempt to murder Charles Borromeo. Using a combination of a wide range of sources, the nature of the early movement and its processes of institutional development are reconstructed. The book also includes a Bullarium Humiliatorum, a calendar of papal and episcopal letters and privileges, which will be of great use to scholars in the field. 410 0$aCambridge studies in medieval life and thought ;$v4th ser., 43. 606 $aHumiliati 615 0$aHumiliati. 676 $a271/.79 700 $aAndrews$b Frances$01042784 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910449878803321 996 $aThe early Humiliati$92467279 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02206nam 2200505 450 001 9910797104403321 005 20230112182709.0 010 $a1-4422-3779-1 035 $a(CKB)3710000000433732 035 $a(EBL)2073321 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001515740 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12584606 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001515740 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11482215 035 $a(PQKB)11524098 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC2073321 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000433732 100 $a20150630h20152015 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe United States and terrorism $ean ironic perspective /$fRon Hirschbein 210 1$aLanham, Maryland :$cRowman & Littlefield,$d2015. 210 4$dİ2015 215 $a1 online resource (227 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a1-4422-3777-5 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aIntroduction : The Quest for the Unholy Gral -- Chapter 1 : World War I : Theory and Practice of Terrorism -- Chapter 2 : Celebrating Nuclear Terror : The Irony of the Cold War -- Chapter 3 : Goodwill Toward Men Without Peace on Earth -- Chapter 4: The War on Terror -- Chapter 5: Terrorism as Entertainment. 330 $aTerrorism didn't always get bad press. In fact, terror bombing was indispensable to winning World War II, and during the Cold War the threat of nuclear annihilation became the strategy to deter war between the superpowers. In this work, Ron Hirschbein discusses the competing definitions of terrorism and shows how the notion of terrorism has evolved since World War II from being a tool to win the war to becoming the United States' nemesis. 606 $aTerrorism$zUnited States 606 $aTerrorism$zUnited States$xHistory 615 0$aTerrorism 615 0$aTerrorism$xHistory. 676 $a363.3250973 700 $aHirschbein$b Ron$f1943-$01547951 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910797104403321 996 $aThe United States and terrorism$93804595 997 $aUNINA
