An advocate of Black Cultural Nationalism, Baraka supported the rejection of all things white and western. He helped found and direct the influential Black Arts movement which sought to move black writers away from western aesthetic sensibilities and toward a more complete embrace of the black world. Except perhaps for James Baldwin, no single figure has had more of an impact on black intellectual and artistic life during the last forty years. 606 $aPolitics and literature$zUnited States$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aAfrican Americans$xPolitics and government 606 $aAfrican Americans$xIntellectual life 606 $aBlack people$xPolitics and government 606 $aAfrican Americans in literature 606 $aBlack people$xIntellectual life 606 $aBlack people in literature 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPolitics and literature$xHistory 615 0$aAfrican Americans$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aAfrican Americans$xIntellectual life. 615 0$aBlack people$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aAfrican Americans in literature. 615 0$aBlack people$xIntellectual life. 615 0$aBlack people in literature. 676 $a818/.5409 700 $aWatts$b Jerry Gafio$01042505 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910449799803321 996 $aAmiri Baraka$92466769 997 $aUNINA
