Yet despite all efforts, too few donor organs are available to help all patients in need. This book analyses whether the national legal regulations are also partly responsible for the organ shortage in the Member States of the European Union. In addition to a detailed analysis of the various national regulations, the main arguments in favour of and against legal restrictions on living organ donation are considered. Furthermore, the European Union?s authority is investigated, namely, whether it is entitled to establish statutory provisions for the Member States with respect to a harmonized regulation of living organ donation. Based on the results of the analysis, the author establishes a Best Practice Proposal for living organ donation. 606 $aLaw?Europe 606 $aMedical laws and legislation 606 $aPrivate international law 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aMedical ethics 606 $aSurgical transplantation 606 $aEuropean Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R20000 606 $aMedical Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R16005 606 $aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law $3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R14002 606 $aTheory of Medicine/Bioethics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H66000 606 $aTransplant Surgery$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H59117 615 0$aLaw?Europe. 615 0$aMedical laws and legislation. 615 0$aPrivate international law. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aMedical ethics. 615 0$aSurgical transplantation. 615 14$aEuropean Law. 615 24$aMedical Law. 615 24$aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law . 615 24$aTheory of Medicine/Bioethics. 615 24$aTransplant Surgery. 676 $a174.2 676 $a340 676 $a340.2 676 $a340.9 700 $aLopp$b Leonie$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01065582 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910438340203321 996 $aRegulations Regarding Living Organ Donation in Europe$92546807 997 $aUNINA
