It is a matter of great urgency to determine strategies and tools in support of sustainable development. The book synthesizes the results of PLUREL, a large European Commission funded research project (2007-2010).  Tools and strategies of PLUREL address main challenges of managing land use in peri-urban areas. These results are presented and illustrated by means of 7 case studies which are at the core of the book.  This volume presents a novel, future oriented approach to the planning and management of peri-urban areas with a main focus on scenarios and sustainability impact analysis. The research is unique in that it focuses on the future by linking quantitative scenario modeling and sustainability impact analysis with qualitative and in-depth analysis of regional strategies, as well as including a study at European level with case study work also involving a Chinese case study. 606 $aEconomic geography 606 $aSustainable development 606 $aEarth sciences 606 $aEuropean Economic Community literature 606 $aQuality of life 606 $aEconomic Geography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J12000 606 $aSustainable Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U34000 606 $aEarth Sciences, general$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/G00002 606 $aEuropean Integration$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W33010 606 $aQuality of Life Research$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X23000 615 0$aEconomic geography. 615 0$aSustainable development. 615 0$aEarth sciences. 615 0$aEuropean Economic Community literature. 615 0$aQuality of life. 615 14$aEconomic Geography. 615 24$aSustainable Development. 615 24$aEarth Sciences, general. 615 24$aEuropean Integration. 615 24$aQuality of Life Research. 676 $a307.1416094 702 $aNilsson$b Kjell$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aPauleit$b Stephan$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBell$b Simon$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aAalbers$b Carmen$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSick Nielsen$b Thomas A$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910437785603321 996 $aPeri-urban futures: Scenarios and models for land use change in Europe$92541898 997 $aUNINA
