With the highest life expectancy and the largest elderly population in the world, Japan has witnessed health inequality by region and social class becoming more prevalent since the 2000s. The first half of this volume describes in detail major NCDs, such as cancers, heart and kidney diseases, diabetes, stroke, and metabolic syndrome. The second half, on the other hand, explores various SDHs relating to healthy ageing. All chapters review and focus on SDHs, particularly health inequality associated with socio-economic status and social capital, which are widely addressed in the field of social epidemiology. The book makes the argument that ?Health for All? advocated by the WHO should be implemented based on social justice and benefits for the greater society. Public health researchers and policymakers, both in Japan and other nations, will gain scientific evidence from this book to prepare for the coming era as ageing becomes a global issue. Katsunori Kondo is Professor of Social Epidemiology and Health Policy, Center for Preventive Medical Sciences and the Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University, Japan. He is also Head of Department of Gerontological Evaluation at the Center for Gerontology and Social Science, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology. . 410 0$aSpringer Series on Epidemiology and Public Health,$x1869-7933 606 $aHealth economics 606 $aSocial structure 606 $aEquality 606 $aEpidemiology 606 $aMedical policy 606 $aHealth Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W35000 606 $aSocial Structure, Social Inequality$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22010 606 $aEpidemiology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H63000 606 $aHealth Policy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H27040 610 $aHealth Economics 610 $aSocial Structure, Social Inequality 610 $aEpidemiology 610 $aHealth Policy 610 $aSocial Structure 610 $aSocial determinants of health (SDHs) 610 $aNon-communicable diseases (NCDs) 610 $aHealthy ageing 610 $aSocio-economic status 610 $aSocial epidemiology 610 $aPublic health in Japan 610 $aOpen Access 610 $aSocial & ethical issues 610 $aEpidemiology & medical statistics 610 $aHealth systems & services 610 $aPolitical structure & processes 615 0$aHealth economics. 615 0$aSocial structure. 615 0$aEquality. 615 0$aEpidemiology. 615 0$aMedical policy. 615 14$aHealth Economics. 615 24$aSocial Structure, Social Inequality. 615 24$aEpidemiology. 615 24$aHealth Policy. 676 $a338.473621 700 $aKondo$b Katsunori$4edt$01355008 702 $aKondo$b Katsunori$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910424946803321 996 $aSocial Determinants of Health in Non-communicable Diseases$93358953 997 $aUNINA
