The book analyses existing informal groups at the grassroots, furthering transnational solidarity in three thematic areas: disability, unemployment and immigration. Contributions assess how civic groups respond to the various crises affecting Europe, especially the economic and refugee crises, presenting new findings from a systematic comparative study conducted in eight European countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and the UK). The research will be of interest to scholars, students, journalists, policy-makers and activists interested in civil society, social movements, charitable actions, altruism and solidarity, as well as European studies and the socio-economic challenges of current European crises. 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in European Political Sociology 606 $aCivil society$zEurope 606 $aPolitical participation$zEurope 606 $aPolitical sociology 606 $aSocial policy 610 $aPolitical Sociology 610 $aSocial Sciences, general 610 $aMigration 610 $aSocial Policy 610 $aSociology of Organizations and Occupations 610 $aSociology of Migration 610 $aEuropean Studies 610 $aSocial movements 610 $aActivism 610 $avolunteering 610 $aDisability 610 $aUnemployment 610 $aImmigration 610 $aOpen Access 610 $aSociology 610 $aPolitics & government 610 $aSociety & Social Sciences 610 $aMigration, immigration & emigration 610 $aPolitical economy 610 $aSocial & ethical issues 615 0$aCivil society 615 0$aPolitical participation 615 0$aPolitical sociology. 615 0$aSocial policy. 676 $a306.2 702 $aLahusen$b Christian$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aZschache$b Ulrike$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKousis$b Maria$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910424946003321 996 $aTransnational Solidarity in Times of Crises$91901329 997 $aUNINA
