This general solution forms a reliable and new starting point to get further in stress calculations than before. In this way, approximately realistic solutions can be found despite a recurring problem: the information deficits that are unavoidable due to the difficulty of exploring glaciers. This issue is demonstrated by the example of stagnating glaciers. For horizontally isotropic homogeneous tabular iceberg models, even mathematically exact unambiguous solutions of all relevant conditions are presented. All calculations use only elementary arithmetic operations, differentiations and integrations. The mathematical fundamentals are presented in detail and explained in many application examples. The integral operators specific to calculations of stresses facilitate the mathematical considerations. The stand-alone text allows the reader to understand what is involved even without considering the formulas. The author Peter Halfar is a theoretical physicist. He also developed a model of the movement of large ice caps (1983), which is still in use today. This book is a translation of an original German edition. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. 606 $aGlaciers 606 $aIce mechanics 606 $aGlaceres$2thub 606 $aEsforç i tensió$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aGlaciers. 615 0$aIce mechanics. 615 7$aGlaceres 615 7$aEsforç i tensió 676 $a551.312 700 $aHalfar$b Peter$01228797 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a996518463703316 996 $aStresses in Glaciers$93077452 997 $aUNISA LEADER 03887nam 22008173 450 001 9910424616903321 005 20241230084506.0 035 $a(CKB)4100000011569287 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/83278 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC31861125 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL31861125 035 $a(OCoLC)1492974134 035 $a(oapen)doab82867 035 $a(oapen)doab83278 035 $a(oapen)doab82491 035 $a(oapen)doab92464 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000011569287 100 $a20241230d2020 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aInternational and Comparative Studies in Adult and Continuing Education 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aFlorence$cFirenze University Press$d2020 210 1$aFlorence :$cFirenze University Press,$d2020. 210 4$d©2020. 215 $a1 electronic resource (15 p.) 225 1 $aStudies on Adult Learning and Education 311 08$a9788855181532 311 08$a885518153X 311 08$a9788855181549 311 08$a8855181548 330 $aEducation for sustainable development is presently a relevant topic in the policies of international organisations (such as UN/UNESCO and the European Union) and in national contexts such as Poland and Portugal. Within the policies implemented, civil society organisations and social movements undertake (adult) education for sustainable development projects and activities that have an important impact by raising awareness and promoting changes in the behaviour and attitudes of both countries? populations. However, several challenges can be pointed out regarding the implementation of these initiatives. These challenges will be highlighted in this article, which focuses on the comparison of policies and practices implemented in Poland and Portugal. 410 0$aStudies on Adult Learning and Education Series 517 $aChapter Employability as a Global Norm 517 $aChapter Adult Education Policies and Sustainable Development in Poland and Portugal 517 $aChapter Storytelling and Other Skills 517 $aChapter Fostering Critical Reflection in The Frame of Transformative Learning in Adult Education 517 $aChapter Are Teachers Agents of Change?
