In recent years an increasing number of urban artists have turned towards the countryside in an attempt to revive rural areas perceived to be in a crisis. The vantage point of this book is the Bishan Commune. In 2010, Ou Ning drafted a notebook entitled Bishan Commune: How to Start Your Own Utopia. The notebook presents a utopian ideal of life based on anarchist Peter Kropotkin's idea of mutual aid. In 2011 the Commune was established in Bishan Village in Anhui Province. The main questions of this book thus revolve around how an anarchist, utopian community unfolds to the backdrop of the political, social and historical landscape of rural China, or more directly: How do you start your own utopia in the Chinese countryside? Mai Corlin is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. . 606 $aAsia$xPolitics and government 606 $aArts 606 $aSocial policy 606 $aAsian Politics 606 $aArts 606 $aSocial Policy 606 $aArt xinès$2thub 606 $aAnarquisme$2thub 606 $aPolítica social$2thub 606 $aAcció social$2thub 606 $aMedi rural$2thub 607 $aXina$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aAsia$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aArts. 615 0$aSocial policy. 615 14$aAsian Politics. 615 24$aArts. 615 24$aSocial Policy. 615 7$aArt xinès 615 7$aAnarquisme 615 7$aPolítica social 615 7$aAcció social 615 7$aMedi rural 676 $a307.720951 700 $aCorlin$b Mai$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0943605 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910416150303321 996 $aThe Bishan Commune and the Practice of Socially Engaged Art in Rural China$92129778 997 $aUNINA
