Although the technique was originally introduced to identify the cause of peripheral edema (i.e., blockage of the venous or lymphatic circulation), more recent and widespread applications include radioguided biopsy of the sentinel lymph node in patients with solid cancers. This procedure is crucial for the adequate planning of oncologic surgery in a growing number of cancers, most notably breast cancer, cutaneous melanoma, head and neck cancers, penile cancer, and cervical cancer. The book focuses on the latest advances in lymphoscintigraphy techniques, including both novel tracers recently approved for clinical use (especially in the field of sentinel lymph node mapping) and the expanding role of hybrid imaging with SPECT/CT ? and in sentinel node detection using hybrid tracers (radiolabeled and fluorescent) for dual-signature guidance. Each chapter addresses the clinical application of lymphoscintigraphy in different anatomic areas or disease conditions. After an introductory section concerning the pathophysiology of the specific site/disease, the clinical relevance and impact of lymphoscintigraphy is demonstrated by a collection of richly illustrated teaching cases describing the lymphoscintigraphic patterns most commonly observed, as well as anatomic variants and technical pitfalls. Emphasis is placed on tomographic multimodality imaging. The book gathers contributions by experts in nuclear oncology, who have revised their chapters by updating the didactic material and adding clinical cases. Regarding sentinel lymph node biopsy in particular, a major distinction of this text is the incorporation of the staging guidelines of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (8th edition) into the didactic material. 606 $aNuclear medicine 606 $aOncology   606 $aSurgery 606 $aAngiology 606 $aPathology 606 $aNuclear Medicine$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H29048 606 $aOncology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H33160 606 $aSurgery$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H59001 606 $aAngiology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H33010 606 $aPathology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H4800X 606 $aMedicina nuclear$2thub 606 $aLimfomes$2thub 606 $aNodes limfàtics$2thub 606 $aGammagrafia$2thub 606 $aMalalties vasculars$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aNuclear medicine. 615 0$aOncology  . 615 0$aSurgery. 615 0$aAngiology. 615 0$aPathology. 615 14$aNuclear Medicine. 615 24$aOncology. 615 24$aSurgery. 615 24$aAngiology. 615 24$aPathology. 615 7$aMedicina nuclear 615 7$aLimfomes 615 7$aNodes limfàtics 615 7$aGammagrafia 615 7$aMalalties vasculars 676 $a616.994 676 $a616.9940758 702 $aMariani$b Giuliano$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aVidal-Sicart$b Sergi$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aValdés Olmos$b Renato A$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910411940003321 996 $aAtlas of Lymphoscintigraphy and Sentinel Node Mapping$91992462 997 $aUNINA
