Reframing the Discussion: Poverty Reduction, Wealth Creation. Economic Inclusion and Freedom. 330 $aThis book takes a unique approach to the topic of poverty reduction, primarily employing an international business framework as opposed to the usual economic or political lens. Some of the key ideas explored in the book include: poverty is primarily the lack of choices, not the lack of material possessions; attacking inequality of opportunity might be a more effective means to reduce poverty than attaching inequality of wealth; political systems matter, but individuals and for-profit firms also have a vital and indispensable role in helping to create the wealth needed to reduce poverty; and an effective corporate social responsibility strategy to help reduce poverty may include finding innovative and creative ways to operate profitably in areas of the world where poverty is currently robbing too many people of the opportunity to live their version of the good life. Building on such ideas, the book advocates for private companies to expand operations into the least developed regions of the world as part of their corporate social responsibility programs and to reframe the debates away from ones focused on exploitation and economic nationalism to one of creating opportunities across political borders. Scott Hipsher is an American professor and academic who lectures, writes, and publishes in strategic areas examining development and other issues primarily in the Asian region. He has published numerous books as the sole author as well as many book chapters on the topics of international business and poverty reduction. In addition to his academic experience Dr. Hipsher has experience working a race-horse trainer throughout the US and Canada, as a member of the US Navy, as a manger of an INGO and as the area manager of an export company in Thailand. He is on the ground full-time in Asia, as a senior faculty member with Webster University?s MBA program in Thailand and has lectured, presented or taught online courses internationally at various institutions. 606 $aEconomic development projects$xFinance 606 $aDevelopment economics 606 $aEconomic policy 606 $aGlobalization 606 $aMarkets 606 $aDevelopment Finance$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/625000 606 $aDevelopment Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W42000 606 $aDevelopment Policy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/913020 606 $aEmerging Markets/Globalization$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/525010 615 0$aEconomic development projects$xFinance. 615 0$aDevelopment economics. 615 0$aEconomic policy. 615 0$aGlobalization. 615 0$aMarkets. 615 14$aDevelopment Finance. 615 24$aDevelopment Economics. 615 24$aDevelopment Policy. 615 24$aEmerging Markets/Globalization. 676 $a339.46 700 $aHipsher$b Scott$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0898643 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910409668603321 996 $aWealth Creation Approach to Reducing Global Poverty$92007725 997 $aUNINA
