The resulting difference in analytical perspectives is huge: the macro level of society is not pursued through aggregation over micro entities. To the contrary, the micro-macro relation is treated as one of parts-to-whole, and this relation is approached from within an ecological scheme of thought. A society is a complex ecology of plans. That ecology, however, is not reducible to a single plan. Conventional macro theory presents a national economy as a collection of such aggregate variables as output, employment, investment, and a price level, and seeks to develop theoretical relationships among those variables. In contrast, the social-theoretic approach to macro or social theory in this book treats the standard macro variables as having been shaped through social institutions, conventions, and processes that in turn are generated through interaction among economizing persons. The object denoted as macro is thus of a higher order of complexity than the object denoted as micro. 606 $aMacroeconomics 606 $aEconomics 606 $aEconomics$xHistory 606 $aSocial choice 606 $aWelfare economics 606 $aMacroeconomics and Monetary Economics 606 $aPolitical Economy and Economic Systems 606 $aHistory of Economic Thought and Methodology 606 $aSocial Choice and Welfare 615 0$aMacroeconomics. 615 0$aEconomics. 615 0$aEconomics$xHistory. 615 0$aSocial choice. 615 0$aWelfare economics. 615 14$aMacroeconomics and Monetary Economics. 615 24$aPolitical Economy and Economic Systems. 615 24$aHistory of Economic Thought and Methodology. 615 24$aSocial Choice and Welfare. 676 $a339 676 $a330 700 $aWagner$b Richard E$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0120338 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910409662703321 996 $aMacroeconomics as Systems Theory$92128288 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04088nam 22006855 450 001 9910669806103321 005 20250628110034.0 010 $a9783031248542 010 $a3031248546 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-031-24854-2 035 $a(PPN)280583915 035 $a(CKB)5860000000298434 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC7204154 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL7204154 035 $a(OCoLC)1370930404 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-031-24854-2 035 $a(ODN)ODN0010055108 035 $a(oapen)doab98497 035 $a(EXLCZ)995860000000298434 100 $a20230215d2023 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aPolitical Islam and Religiously Motivated Political Extremism $eAn International Comparison /$fby Arno Tausch 205 $a1st ed. 2023. 210 $d2023 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2023. 215 $a1 online resource (108 pages) 225 1 $aSpringerBriefs in Political Science,$x2191-5474 311 08$a9783031248535 311 08$a3031248538 327 $aChapter 1. Based on data from the Arab Barometer and the World Values Survey, it applies advanced statistical techniques to analyze how religiously motivated political extremism affects political and social outcomes as well as political violence. The study clearly shows that identification with a political Islam that also influences elections, promotes religious and gender discrimination, and advocates an Islamist interpretation of Islam, are the main interrelated syndromes of political Islam that together explain more than 50% of the total variance of the 24 model variables used. ?A carefully and methodically flawlessly researched work, which is highly recommended for all those who deal seriously with this topic. Professor Arno Tausch is clear-headed and possesses a remarkable ability to make the broad picture of Political Islam accessible.? Hon. Prof. Gunther Hauser, Head of the Department Strategy and Security Policy, National Defense Academy, Vienna, Austria ?Methodological rigorous, scientifically sound, empirically rich and combining the best of qualitative and quantitative approaches, Prof Arno Tausch has produced a tour de force on Political Islam. This study reflects the best scholarship on the subject and will be of use to both policy makers and academics.?
