As democracy is being contested anew in the beginning of the 21st century, a much more complicated landscape of democracy since 1900 emerges. Transfer was not a one-way-street, and patterns of conflict and transformation affected both American and European political societies. American democracy may not be reduced to a resilient defense of original traditions, while the narrative of German democracy is more than redemption from catastrophe. The essays in this volume contribute to a new history of transatlantic democracy that accounts for its manifold experiences and constant renegotiations, up to the current challenges of American and European populism. 410 0$aSchriften des Historischen Kollegs.$pKolloquien. 517 0 $aTransatlantic democracy in the 20th century 606 $aDemocracy$zEurope, Western 606 $aDemocracy$zGermany 606 $aDemocracy$zUnited States 607 $aGermany$xPolitics and government$y20th century 607 $aUnited States$xPolitics and government$y20th century 615 0$aDemocracy 615 0$aDemocracy 615 0$aDemocracy 676 $a320.973 702 $aPuhle$b Hans-Jürgen$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aMüller$b Jan-Werner$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aPatel$b Kiran Klaus$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aNolte$b Paul$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aNolte$b Paul$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aGassert$b Philipp$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aBavaj$b Riccardo$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aWelskopp$b Thomas$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aRahden$b Till van$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aBerghahn$b Volker$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aDepkat$b Volker$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910404125603321 996 $aTransatlantic democracy in the twentieth century$92125392 997 $aUNINA
