It elaborates theoretically and shows empirically how the two master frames of nostalgia and hope are used in local, national and transnational settings, in and outside conventional forms of doing politics. It expands on polarized societal processes and external events relevant for the transformation of European welfare systems and the reproduction of national identities today. It evidences the importance of gender in the narrative use of the master frames of nostalgia and hope, either as an ideological tool for right-wing populist and extreme right retrogressive mobilization or as an essential element of progressive intersectional politics of hope. It uses both comparative and single case studies to address different perspectives, and by means of various methodological approaches, the manner in which the master frames of nostalgia and hope are articulated in the politics of culture, welfare, and migration. The book is organized around three thematic sections whereby the first section deals with right-wing populist party politics across Europe, the second section deals with an articulation of politics beyond party politics by means of retrogressive mobilization, and the third and last section deals with emancipatory initiatives beyond party politics as well. 410 0$aIMISCOE Research Series,$x2364-4087 606 $aEmigration and immigration 606 $aPolitical science 606 $aMigration$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X24000 606 $aPolitical Science$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911000 610 $aMigration 610 $aPolitical Science 610 $aSociology of Migration 610 $aOpen access 610 $aMigration and integration 610 $aPopulism and radical right parties 610 $aWelfare and culture 610 $aNexus of welfare, economy, and culture 610 $aWelfare and national identity 610 $aDiversity 610 $aSocial movements 610 $aParty politics 610 $aHomeland and identity 610 $aImmigration 610 $a(In)equality 610 $aPolitics of migration 610 $aWelfare politics 610 $aNational identity 610 $aPolitics of intersectional hope 610 $aMigration, immigration & emigration 610 $aPolitical science & theory 615 0$aEmigration and immigration. 615 0$aPolitical science. 615 14$aMigration. 615 24$aPolitical Science. 676 $a304.8 700 $aNorocel$b Ov Cristian$4edt$01744243 702 $aNorocel$b Ov Cristian$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aHellström$b Anders$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aJørgensen$b Martin Bak$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910404104103321 996 $aNostalgia and Hope: Intersections between Politics of Culture, Welfare, and Migration in Europe$94174085 997 $aUNINA
