Through a variety of cutting edge essays at the intersections of critical cultural studies, material culture, visual culture, neo-Marxist theories and situated critiques of neoliberalism, the volume rethinks the relationship between capitalism and socialism. Rather than treating capitalism and socialism as mutually exclusive systems of political, social and economic order, the volume puts forth the idea that in the context of the former Yugoslavia, they are marked by a mutually intertwined existence not only on the economic level, but also on the level of cultural production and consumption. It argues that culture?although very often treated as secondary in the analyses of either socialism, capitalism or their relationship?has an important role in defining, negotiating, and resisting the social, political and economic values of both systems. 606 $aEthnology?Europe 606 $aCultural heritage 606 $aCultural studies 606 $aRussia?Politics and government 606 $aRussia?History 606 $aEurope, Eastern?History 606 $aEuropean Culture$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/411070 606 $aCultural Heritage$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/419000 606 $aCultural Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22040 606 $aRussian and Post-Soviet Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911170 606 $aRussian, Soviet, and East European History$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/717090 615 0$aEthnology?Europe. 615 0$aCultural heritage. 615 0$aCultural studies. 615 0$aRussia?Politics and government. 615 0$aRussia?History. 615 0$aEurope, Eastern?History. 615 14$aEuropean Culture. 615 24$aCultural Heritage. 615 24$aCultural Studies. 615 24$aRussian and Post-Soviet Politics. 615 24$aRussian, Soviet, and East European History. 676 $a914.97 702 $aJela?a$b Dijana$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKolanovi?$b Ma?a$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aLugari?$b Danijela$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910392724403321 996 $aThe Cultural Life of Capitalism in Yugoslavia$92154524 997 $aUNINA
