Conclusion: Summing up the Activists. 330 $aGrounded in nine years of ethnographic research on the al Muhajiroun/Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah movement (ALM/ASWJ), Douglas Weeks mixes ethnography and traditional research methods to tell the complete story of al Muhajiroun. Beginning with three core events that became a primer for radical Islamic political thought in the UK, Al Muhajiroun, A Case Study in Islamic Activism traces the development of the movement form its incipient beginnings to its current status. Based on his extensive interaction with the group and its leaders, Weeks contextualizes the history, beliefs, methods, and differences between ALM/ASWJ, al Qaeda, and the Islamic State so that the group and the threat it poses is comprehensively understood. Douglas Weeks is a Lecturer at California State University Long Beach. Before entering academia, Dr. Weeks spent 29 years as a firefighter and served as Emergency Services and Counter-terrorism Coordinator from 1996 until his retirement in 2009. He specializes in radicalization, deradicalization, and counterterrorism policy. 606 $aTerrorism 606 $aPolitical violence 606 $aIslam 606 $aSecurity, International 606 $aReligion and sociology 606 $aReligion and politics 606 $aTerrorism and Political Violence$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912090 606 $aIslam$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1A5000 606 $aTerrorism$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1BE020 606 $aInternational Security Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912120 606 $aReligion and Society$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1A8020 606 $aPolitics and Religion$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911250 615 0$aTerrorism. 615 0$aPolitical violence. 615 0$aIslam. 615 0$aSecurity, International. 615 0$aReligion and sociology. 615 0$aReligion and politics. 615 14$aTerrorism and Political Violence. 615 24$aIslam. 615 24$aTerrorism. 615 24$aInternational Security Studies. 615 24$aReligion and Society. 615 24$aPolitics and Religion. 676 $a320.557 676 $a363.325 700 $aWeeks$b Douglas$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0971526 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910383828103321 996 $aAl Muhajiroun$92208875 997 $aUNINA
