It conceptualizes and frames environmental citizenship taking an educational perspective. Organized in four complementary parts, the book first explains the political, economic and societal dimensions of the concept. Next, it examines environmental citizenship as a psychological concept with a specific focus on knowledge, values, beliefs and attitudes. It then explores environmental citizenship within the context of environmental education and education for sustainability. It elaborates responsible environmental behaviour, youth activism and education for sustainability through the lens of environmental citizenship. Finally, it discusses the concept within the context of different educational levels, such as primary and secondary education in formal and non-formal settings. Environmental citizenship is a key factor in sustainability, green and cycle economy, and low-carbon society, and an important aspect in addressing global environmental problems. It has been an influential concept in many different arenas such as economy, policy, philosophy, and organizational marketing. In the field of education, the concept could be better exploited and established, however. Education and, especially, environmental discourses in science education have a great deal to contribute to the adoption and promotion of environmental citizenship. 410 0$aEnvironmental Discourses in Science Education,$x2352-7307 ;$v4 606 $aScience education 606 $aSustainable development 606 $aSocial justice 606 $aHuman rights 606 $aEnvironmental education 606 $aScience Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O27000 606 $aSustainable Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U34000 606 $aSocial Justice, Equality and Human Rights$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X33070 606 $aEnvironmental and Sustainability Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O48000 610 $aScience Education 610 $aSustainable Development 610 $aSocial Justice, Equality and Human Rights 610 $aEnvironmental and Sustainability Education 610 $aEnvironmental Social Sciences 610 $aHuman Rights 610 $aSustainability / sustainable development 610 $aEnvironmental citizenship 610 $aEnvironmental citizen 610 $aEnvironmental education 610 $aEducation for environmental citizenship 610 $aEducation for sustainability 610 $aENEC 610 $aEU Horizon 2020 610 $aEU-roadmap 2050 610 $aEuropean Network for Environmental Citizenship 610 $aEnvironmental Behavior 610 $aEnvironmental citizenship from educational perspective 610 $aOpen Access 610 $aTeaching of a specific subject 610 $aScience: general issues 610 $aSustainability 610 $aPolitics & government 610 $aEducation 615 0$aScience education. 615 0$aSustainable development. 615 0$aSocial justice. 615 0$aHuman rights. 615 0$aEnvironmental education. 615 14$aScience Education. 615 24$aSustainable Development. 615 24$aSocial Justice, Equality and Human Rights. 615 24$aEnvironmental and Sustainability Education. 676 $a507.1 676 $a323 700 $aHadjichambis$b Andreas Ch$4edt$01313414 702 $aHadjichambis$b Andreas Ch$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aReis$b Pedro$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aParaskeva-Hadjichambi$b Demetra$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $a?in?era$b Jan$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBoeve-de Pauw$b Jelle$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aGericke$b Niklas$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKnippels$b Marie-Christine$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910380744503321 996 $aConceptualizing Environmental Citizenship for 21st Century Education$94174850 997 $aUNINA
