Islamophobia: Convenient, Contested And Far From ?Joined Up?. 330 $aThis book investigates the contested phenomena of Islamophobia, exploring the dichotomous relationship that exists between Islamophobia as a political concept and Islamophobia as a ?real? and tangible discriminatory phenomenon. In doing so, this book improves understanding about Islamophobia through arguing how this dichotomous contestation serves a number of functions. To do so, Allen radically reframes and reconfigures existing notions and understandings of Islamophobia. It does so in two ways. First, through presenting empirical data gathered from more than 100 victims of Islamophobic hate crime to categorically evidence that Islamophobia is indeed real and tangible. Second, through unrivalled ?insider? experience gained as an independent adviser on Islamophobia and associated issues to various political, community and third sector stakeholders. Challenging existing scholarly conceptions of Islamophobia, this book also challenges politicians and policymakers to do more. 410 0$aPalgrave Hate Studies 606 $aHate crimes 606 $aVictimology 606 $aCritical criminology 606 $aSocial justice 606 $aHuman rights 606 $aViolence 606 $aCrime 606 $aMass media and crime 606 $aHate Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1B1010 606 $aVictimology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1B1040 606 $aEthnicity, Class, Gender and Crime$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1B1030 606 $aSocial Justice, Equality and Human Rights$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X33070 606 $aViolence and Crime$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1BG010 606 $aCrime and the Media$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1BA000 615 0$aHate crimes. 615 0$aVictimology. 615 0$aCritical criminology. 615 0$aSocial justice. 615 0$aHuman rights. 615 0$aViolence. 615 0$aCrime. 615 0$aMass media and crime. 615 14$aHate Studies. 615 24$aVictimology. 615 24$aEthnicity, Class, Gender and Crime. 615 24$aSocial Justice, Equality and Human Rights. 615 24$aViolence and Crime. 615 24$aCrime and the Media. 676 $a305.697 676 $a364.15 700 $aAllen$b Chris$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0516429 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bCaOLH 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910373892703321 996 $aReconfiguring Islamophobia$91757133 997 $aUNINA
