This collection fashions art out of artless objects as a consolation, or perhaps compensation, for their smallness. Yawns and pears, cockroaches and crows resonate against historically conflated backdrops, while our own hands seem suddenly strange as they hide themselves in our pockets, balance a burning cigarette between two fingers, or grip the gun that shot Lincoln. Other poems address the destruction of empire, the end of old Hollywood, and the hyperbo 410 0$aCrab Orchard award series in poetry. 606 $aMiracles$vPoetry 606 $aNature$vPoetry 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMiracles 615 0$aNature 676 $a811/.6 700 $aDavidson$b Chad$f1970-$0874347 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910453159203321 996 $aConsolation miracle$91971846 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03491nam 2200817z- 450 001 9910372784403321 005 20210211 010 $a3-03928-025-2 035 $a(CKB)4100000010163782 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/47234 035 $a(oapen)doab47234 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000010163782 100 $a20202102d2020 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aExploring the Future of Christian Monasticisms 210 $cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2020 215 $a1 online resource (138 p.) 311 08$a3-03928-024-4 330 $aThe institution of monasticism in the Christian Church is in general decline, at least in so-called "first world" nations. Though there are many reasons for this, monastic leaders are confronted by the reality of fewer communities, monks, and nuns nonetheless. At the same time, many younger Christians are rediscovering the rich heritage of the monastic tradition. Though they themselves might not be called to join a traditional monastery, they are eager to appropriate monastic practices in their own lives. This had led to a movement known as the "new monasticism" or "secular monasticism." Despite lacking a unified vision and any central organization, these new/secular monastics are attempting, in their own ways, to carry on the tradition and practices of Christian monasticism. As well, there is a movement within historical Christian monasteries to pour new wine into old wineskins. Traditional forms of monasticism are also generally flourishing in developing nations, breathing new life into monasticism. This volume looks at the current monastic landscape to assess where monasticism stands and to imagine ways in which it will grow in the future, leading not only to a renewed Christian monasticism but to new monasticisms. 606 $aReligion & beliefs$2bicssc 610 $aAfrica 610 $aAnselm 610 $aart 610 $aartist 610 $aBeguine 610 $aCatholic monasticism 610 $aCentering Prayer 610 $acommunity 610 $acontemplative Christianity 610 $acreativity 610 $acultural transfer 610 $adevelopment 610 $adouble monasteries 610 $aenvironmental humanities 610 $agender cohabitation 610 $agreening of religion 610 $ahistory of monasticism 610 $aintentional community 610 $alandscape 610 $alay contemplatives 610 $amonastic rules 610 $amonasticism 610 $amonk 610 $amonogamy 610 $amonotheism 610 $an/a 610 $aNew Monastic Communities 610 $anew monasticism 610 $aOrthodox monasticism 610 $aproof of God's existence 610 $aProslogion 610 $areligion and ecology 610 $areligious ambiguity 610 $areligious life 610 $areligious pluralism 610 $aspiritual ecology 610 $aspiritual formation 610 $aspirituality 610 $aVatican Council II 610 $avows 615 7$aReligion & beliefs 676 $a255 702 $aPeters$b Greg$f1971- 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910372784403321 996 $aExploring the future of Christian monasticisms$93397604 997 $aUNINA
