Chapter 7 Conclusion: The NSS as a Learning Forum. 330 $aThis book describes the four Nuclear Security Summits held over 2010-2016 at the initiative of U.S. President Barack Obama. The author draws upon his unique vantage point as a participant in the Summits, exclusive interviews with practitioners, and access to primary documents, to write an engaging history of the NSS and of nuclear security in general. The story of the NSS is also in part the story of multilateral nuclear forums, which have sprung up regularly since the dawn of the nuclear age to address perceived nuclear dangers. The success of these Summits in addressing the threat of nuclear terrorism holds important lessons for the design and work of nuclear forums today and into the future. The author presents a new approach to assessing ?international learning? that has important implications for the design of multilateral forums and updates the Cold War areas of nuclear knowledge being ?learnt? in the light of the NSS experience and other recent developments. This work will be of interest to scholars and practitioners in security studies, nuclear history, and International Relations. Amandeep S. Gill is Visiting Professor at King's College London, UK, and Executive Director and Co-Lead of the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General?s High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation, Geneva, Switzerland. . 606 $aSecurity, International 606 $aDiplomacy 606 $aPolitics and war 606 $aPeace 606 $aNuclear energy 606 $aInternational Security Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912120 606 $aDiplomacy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912020 606 $aMilitary and Defence Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912080 606 $aPeace Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912070 606 $aNuclear Energy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/113000 615 0$aSecurity, International. 615 0$aDiplomacy. 615 0$aPolitics and war. 615 0$aPeace. 615 0$aNuclear energy. 615 14$aInternational Security Studies. 615 24$aDiplomacy. 615 24$aMilitary and Defence Studies. 615 24$aPeace Studies. 615 24$aNuclear Energy. 676 $a355.033 676 $a327.174 700 $aGill$b Amandeep S$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0913657 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910369916703321 996 $aNuclear Security Summits$92046915 997 $aUNINA
