Public participation also provides an opportunity for the improvement of the quality of information, public debate, personal reflection, and professionalization, raising awareness. Participation in forestry implies the involvement of stakeholders (the interest group participation approach) and/or the involvement of people (the direct citizen participation approach) in the decision-making process. Since the UN Conference on Environment and Development (1992), new norms and perspectives have emerged encouraging a bottom-up approach in forest governance. Consequently, several participatory techniques, methods, and tools for stakeholder involvement in forest governance have been developed and applied. These different experiences allow us to learn from failures and successes and contribute to knowledge improvement. The future challenges of participatory forestry deal with adaptation to changes in ecological, social, and economic contexts. 517 3 $aParticipatory Forestry 610 $aforest planning 610 $agreen space quality assessment 610 $aforest management practice 610 $aforest degradation 610 $aurban trees 610 $aSlovenia 610 $aparticipatory process 610 $atransdisciplinary research 610 $adeliberative-analytical process 610 $apanarchy theory 610 $aparticipatory forums 610 $aclimate change 610 $acommunity forestry 610 $aempathetic utility functions 610 $asmallholder 610 $aquestionnaire survey 610 $aBritish Columbia 610 $aGhana 610 $acocoa 610 $aparticipatory 610 $aentrepreneurial education 610 $aNatura 2000 610 $adeforestation 610 $asocial assessment 610 $aclimate change mitigation 610 $astakeholder analysis 610 $asocial network analysis 610 $asocial forestry 610 $aREDD+ 610 $aphotography 610 $aparticipation 610 $ainterviews survey 610 $adiffusion 610 $atraditional knowledge 610 $aforest carbon 610 $aAI decision-making algorithms 610 $astakeholders 610 $aparticipatory modeling 610 $ainnovative training 610 $astakeholders? involvement 610 $aappraisal 610 $aslash-and-burn agriculture 610 $apublic opinion 610 $auser participation 610 $apublic participation 610 $asummer-winter 610 $aforest multifunctionality 610 $apreferences 610 $acommunity-based forest management 610 $aforest management 610 $aurban woodland management 610 $anational forest policy framework 610 $aperceptions 610 $aforest governance 610 $astakeholder engagement 610 $aforest history 610 $arole-playing games 610 $aassessment of sustainability 610 $amanagement program 610 $aforestry training 702 $aPaletto$b Alessandro 801 0$bFI-LUT 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910367568703321 996 $aParticipatory Forestry: Involvement, Information and Science$93020301 997 $aUNINA
