Conclusion. 330 $aThis open access book revisits the theoretical foundations of urban planning and the application of these concepts and methods in the context of Southern countries by examining several case studies from different regions of the world. For instance, the case of Koudougou, a medium-sized city in one of the poorest countries in the world, Burkina Faso, with a population of 115.000 inhabitants, allows us to understand concretely which and how these deficiencies are translated in an African urban context. In contrast, the case of Nueve de Julio, intermediate city of 50.000 dwellers in the pampa Argentina, addresses the new forms of spatial fragmentation and social exclusion linked with agro export and crisis of the international markets. Case studies are also included for cities in Asia and Latin America. Differences and similarities between cases allow us to foresee alternative models of urban planning better adapted to tackle poverty and find efficient ways for more inclusive cities in developing and emerging countries, interacting several dimensions linked with high rates of urbanization: territorial fragmentation; environmental contamination; social disparities and exclusion, informal economy and habitat, urban governance and democracy. 410 0$aFuture City,$x1876-0899 ;$v14 606 $aRegional planning 606 $aUrban planning 606 $aSociology, Urban 606 $aApplied sociology 606 $aSustainable development 606 $aCity planning 606 $aLandscape/Regional and Urban Planning$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J15000 606 $aUrban Studies/Sociology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22250 606 $aSocial/Human Development Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X38000 606 $aSustainable Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U34000 606 $aUrbanism$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/K18006 615 0$aRegional planning. 615 0$aUrban planning. 615 0$aSociology, Urban. 615 0$aApplied sociology. 615 0$aSustainable development. 615 0$aCity planning. 615 14$aLandscape/Regional and Urban Planning. 615 24$aUrban Studies/Sociology. 615 24$aSocial/Human Development Studies. 615 24$aSustainable Development. 615 24$aUrbanism. 676 $a710 700 $aBolay$b Jean-Claude$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0873460 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910366613403321 996 $aUrban Planning Against Poverty$91950014 997 $aUNINA
