This third volume in the series reports on studies undertaken at contaminated sites such as farmland, forests, and marine and freshwater environments, with a particular focus on livestock, wild plants and mushrooms, crops, and marine products in those environments. It also provides additional data collected in the subsequent years to show how the radioactivity levels in agricultural products and their growing environments have changed with time and the route by which radioactive materials entered agricultural products as well as their movement between different components (e.g., soil, water, and trees) within an environmental system (e.g., forests). The book covers various topics, including radioactivity testing of food products; decontamination trials for rice and livestock production; the state of contamination in, trees, mushrooms, and timber; the dynamics of radioactivity distribution in paddy fields and upland forests; damage incurred by the forestry and fishery industries; and the change in consumers? attitudes. Chapter 19 introduces a real-time radioisotope imaging system, a pioneering technique to visualize the movement of cesium in soil and in plants. This is the only book to provide systematic data on the actual change of radioactivity, and as such is of great value to all researchers who wish to understand the effect of radioactive fallout on agriculture. In addition, it helps the general public to better understand the issues of radio-contamination in the environment. The project is ongoing; the research groups from the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences of The University of Tokyo continue their work in the field to further evaluate the long-term effects of the Fukushima accident. 606 $aRadiation protection 606 $aRadiation$xSafety measures 606 $aPollution 606 $aAgriculture 606 $aForestry 606 $aAnimal physiology 606 $aEnvironmental monitoring 606 $aEffects of Radiation/Radiation Protection$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U13003 606 $aPollution, general$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U35000 606 $aAgriculture$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L11006 606 $aForestry$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L22008 606 $aAnimal Physiology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L33030 606 $aMonitoring/Environmental Analysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U1400X 610 $aEnvironment 610 $aRadiation protection 610 $aRadiation?Safety measures 610 $aPollution 610 $aAgriculture 610 $aForestry 610 $aAnimal physiology 610 $aEnvironmental monitoring 615 0$aRadiation protection. 615 0$aRadiation$xSafety measures. 615 0$aPollution. 615 0$aAgriculture. 615 0$aForestry. 615 0$aAnimal physiology. 615 0$aEnvironmental monitoring. 615 14$aEffects of Radiation/Radiation Protection. 615 24$aPollution, general. 615 24$aAgriculture. 615 24$aForestry. 615 24$aAnimal Physiology. 615 24$aMonitoring/Environmental Analysis. 676 $a363.7 702 $aNakanishi$b Tomoko M.$f1950-$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aO'Brien$b Martin$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTanoi$b Keitaro$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910350338203321 996 $aAgricultural Implications of the Fukushima Nuclear Accident (III)$93572706 997 $aUNINA
