Specifically, Rönnbäck and Broberg study the interaction between imperialist policies, colonial institutions and financial markets. Their primary method of analysis is examining micro- and macro-level data relating to a large sample of ventures operating in Africa and traded on the London Stock Exchange between 1869 and 1969. Their study shows that the relationship between capital and colonialism was highly complex. While return from investing in African colonies on average was not extraordinary, there were certainly many occasions when investors enjoyed high return due to various forms of exploitation. While there were actors with rational calculations and deliberate strategies, there was also an important element of chance in determining the return on investment ? not least in the mining sector, which overall was the most important business for investment in African ventures during this period. This book finally also demonstrates that the different paths of decolonization in Africa had very diverse effects for investors. 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in Economic History,$x2662-6500 606 $aEconomic history 606 $aImperialism 606 $aAfrica$xEconomic conditions 606 $aIndustrial organization 606 $aDevelopment economics 606 $aLabor economics 606 $aEconomic History 606 $aImperialism and Colonialism 606 $aAfrican Economics 606 $aIndustrial Organization 606 $aDevelopment Economics 606 $aLabor Economics 615 0$aEconomic history. 615 0$aImperialism. 615 0$aAfrica$xEconomic conditions. 615 0$aIndustrial organization. 615 0$aDevelopment economics. 615 0$aLabor economics. 615 14$aEconomic History. 615 24$aImperialism and Colonialism. 615 24$aAfrican Economics. 615 24$aIndustrial Organization. 615 24$aDevelopment Economics. 615 24$aLabor Economics. 676 $a338.96 676 $a330.9603 700 $aRönnbäck$b Klas$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0909703 702 $aBroberg$b Oskar$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910349537103321 996 $aCapital and Colonialism$92035768 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01742nam 22005053 450 001 9910919813003321 005 20251201204428.0 010 $a9789819795987 010 $a9819795982 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC31867322 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL31867322 035 $a(CKB)37111020100041 035 $a(OCoLC)1482814945 035 $a(EXLCZ)9937111020100041 100 $a20250102d2025 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aMental and Occupational Stress Assessment of Pink Collar Workers 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer,$d2025. 210 4$d©2024. 215 $a1 online resource (56 pages) 225 1 $aNew Perspectives in Behavioral and Health Sciences Series 311 08$a9789819795970 311 08$a9819795974 330 $aThis book delves into the mental and occupational stress of pink-collar workers.A pink-collar worker is a person employed in a care-related profession or in an area that has traditionally been seen as the domain of women. 410 0$aNew Perspectives in Behavioral and Health Sciences Series 606 $aEstrès laboral$2thub 606 $aPsicodiagnòstic$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 7$aEstrès laboral 615 7$aPsicodiagnòstic 700 $aSatapathy$b Suchismita$01081481 701 $aRealyvasquez$b Arturo$f1984-$01784245 701 $aMishra$b Meghana$01449927 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910919813003321 996 $aMental and Occupational Stress Assessment of Pink Collar Workers$94315847 997 $aUNINA
