Juvenile Justice System, a Pathway for Restoration of Children in Conflict with Law -- 6 Summary and Conclusions. . 330 $aThis book offers a sociological exploration of street children in India and what pulls and pushes them into delinquency, at a time when the government of India is contemplating strengthening its juvenile justice system. It draws on in-depth, qualitative research carried out by an NGO which included unstructured and structured interviews with over 600 children as well as stakeholders. Through the stories of Indian children, this book examines the major factors which together play a crucial role in their engagement in deviant behaviour as they grow up. However, the authors argue that they should not be viewed not as a dangerous threat but as the country's most valuable resource. The authors conclude that a punitive strategy may not be the best option, advocating instead for a focus on restorative justice which has been found to be effective and beneficial alongside other strategies which help strengthen families and enhance parenting skills. . 410 0$aPalgrave Advances in Criminology and Criminal Justice in Asia,$x2946-2886 606 $aCriminology 606 $aJuvenile delinquents 606 $aCommunity development 606 $aSocial service 606 $aCorrections 606 $aPunishment 606 $aVictims of crimes 606 $aAsian Criminology 606 $aYouth Offending and Juvenile Justice 606 $aCrime Control and Security 606 $aSocial Work and Community Development 606 $aPrison and Punishment 606 $aVictimology 615 0$aCriminology. 615 0$aJuvenile delinquents. 615 0$aCommunity development. 615 0$aSocial service. 615 0$aCorrections. 615 0$aPunishment. 615 0$aVictims of crimes. 615 14$aAsian Criminology. 615 24$aYouth Offending and Juvenile Justice. 615 24$aCrime Control and Security. 615 24$aSocial Work and Community Development. 615 24$aPrison and Punishment. 615 24$aVictimology. 676 $a364.360954 676 $a362.7340954 700 $aParackal$b Saju$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0787318 702 $aPanicker$b Rita$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910349379403321 996 $aChildren and Crime in India$92537276 997 $aUNINA
