Each volume deals with a particular domain of culture and/or environment and consists of a collection of essays each of which presents and comments on lexical reconstructions of a particular semantic field within that domain. Volume 2 examines how Proto Oceanic speakers described their geophysical environment. An introductory chapter discusses linguistic and archaeological evidence that locates the Proto Oceanic language community in the Bismarck Archipelago in the late 2nd millennium BC. The next three chapters investigate terms used to denote inland, coastal, reef and open sea environments, and meteorological phenomena. A further chapter examines the lexicon for features of the heavens and navigational techniques associated with the stars. How Proto Oceanic speakers talked about their environment is also described in three further chapters which treat property terms for describing inanimate objects, locational and directional terms, and terms related to the expression of time. 410 0$aPacific linguistics ;$v545. 606 $aEthnology$zOceania 606 $aHuman ecology$zOceania$vTerminology 606 $aProto-Oceanic language$xLexicology, Historical 606 $aEthnology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00916106 606 $aManners and customs$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01007815 606 $aProto-Oceanic language$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01080016 607 $aOceania$2fast 615 0$aEthnology 615 0$aHuman ecology 615 0$aProto-Oceanic language$xLexicology, Historical. 615 7$aEthnology. 615 7$aManners and customs. 615 7$aProto-Oceanic language. 676 $a306.0995 700 $aRoss$b Malcolm$0801489 702 $aPawley$b Andrew 702 $aOsmond$b Meredith 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910141819603321 996 $aThe lexicon of Proto-Oceanic$91991274 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02364nam 2200793z- 450 001 9910346856203321 005 20210211 035 $a(CKB)4920000000095105 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/42704 035 $a(oapen)doab42704 035 $a(EXLCZ)994920000000095105 100 $a20202102d2019 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aCarbonates 210 $cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2019 215 $a1 online resource (146 p.) 311 08$a3-03897-722-5 330 $aThis Special Issue is aimed at presenting the state of the art of the multidisciplinary science concerning all aspects of volcanic plumes, of relevance to the volcanology, climatology, atmospheric science, and remote sensing communities. 610 $aalginate 610 $aammonia bicarbonate 610 $aAmu Darya Basin 610 $aaragonite 610 $aBacillus subtilis 610 $abacterial extracellular secretion 610 $abiomineralization 610 $abubble-column scrubber 610 $aCaCO3 610 $acalcite 610 $acalcium carbonate 610 $aCallovian-Oxfordian 610 $acapture 610 $acarbon dioxide 610 $acarbonation 610 $acement 610 $aCO2 610 $acomposite 610 $acontact angle 610 $acrystallization 610 $aelectrocrystallization 610 $agas diffusion method 610 $ahierarchic structure 610 $ahydrogels 610 $aLessonia nigrescens 610 $amain controlling factors 610 $amass-transfer coefficient 610 $aMICP 610 $amicromechanics 610 $amulti-wall carbon nanotubes 610 $anacre 610 $aphosphorylated chitin 610 $apotentiometric titration 610 $areservoir 610 $asedimentary model 610 $aSEM 610 $asericin 610 $aSporosarcina pasteurii 610 $asurface energy 610 $aurease 610 $aX-ray diffraction 610 $axanthan 700 $aPastero$b Linda$4auth$01287796 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910346856203321 996 $aCarbonates$93020399 997 $aUNINA
