A fascinating and impressive book." - Professor Richard English, author of Does Terrorism Work? A History "A key strength of Islam and Security in the West is its stubborn insistence on a close examination of the actual lived experience and grassroots perspectives of 'frontline' communities on the Western front of the (so-called) Global War on Terror. As the 21st Century continues its troubled evolution, this important collection of essays looks set to remain both timely and provocative." - Dr Tim Wilson, Director, Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV), University of St Andrews "The diversity of expertise of the contributors means that while it is enriching it is also bound to intellectually stimulate, excite and agitate the reader. This is a major contribution to the thinking and concerned reader. A must read." - Professor Akbar Ahmed, Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies, School of International Service, American University, Washington DC What changes have the terrorist attacks on the United States in 2001 and the subsequent attacks in Europe brought to Western societies? In what ways have these events and their aftermath impacted on the relationships between Muslim communities and Western societies? This book explores the remaking of the relationship between Islam and Islamism, on the one hand, and security and securitization, on the other hand, by arguing that 9/11 and its aftermath have led to the opening of a new phase in Western and European history and have remade the relationship between Islam and governmental and societal approaches to security. The authors utilize case studies across the Western world to understand this relationship. Stefano Bonino, PhD, is the author of Muslims in Scotland: The Making of Community in a Post-9/11 World. The present treatment options for stroke are adapting lifestyle practices, diabetes treatment, drugs, and the management of other factors, but no cure is yet available, despite new insights into molecular and therapeutic targets. Discoveries related to explicating the molecular pharmacology in cerebrovascular function and thrombosis have led to significant advancements in the current treatment paradigm for patients with stroke. Hence, this Special Issue invited scientific papers and reviews from researchers to provide solid evidence from a molecular point of view to scrutinize the molecular pharmacology and pathology of strokes. Platelet activation plays a major role in cardio and cerebrovascular diseases. Platelets also play a key role in the hemostatic process and are associated with various pathological events, such as arterial thrombosis and atherosclerosis. While the currently used anti-platelet drugs such as aspirin and clopidogrel demonstrate efficacy in many patients, they exert undesirable side effects. Therefore, the development of effective therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases is a significant priority. Recently, precious metal drugs have conquered the subject of metal-based drugs, and several investigators have moved their attention to the synthesis of various ruthenium (Ru) and iridium (Ir) complexes due to their prospective therapeutic values. We have published this e-book about the "Molecular Pharmacology and Pathology of Strokes" and anticipate that readers will find this book useful regarding the significant challenges and current advances that are presently being made in stroke research, with the possibility of inspiring the application of novel drug development to enrich the devotion and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases. 606 $aMedicine$2bicssc 610 $aNeuroprotection 610 $aVascular diseases 610 $aNovel drug development 610 $aSignal transductions 610 $aClinical and translational research 610 $aFree radicals/oxidative stress 610 $aPlatelet activation and thrombosis 615 7$aMedicine 700 $aPrentice$b Howard$01788063 702 $aSheu$b Joen-Rong 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910346669903321 996 $aMolecular Pharmacology and Pathology of Strokes$94322389 997 $aUNINA
