A genre that sought to produce simulations in sound of complex interiorities, the madrigal introduced into music a vast range of new signifying practices: musical representations of emotions, desire, gender stereotypes, reason, madness, tensions between mind and body, and much more. In doing so, it not only greatly expanded the expressive agendas of European music but also recorded certain assumptions of the time concerning selfhood, making it an invaluable resource for understanding the history of Western subjectivity. Modal Subjectivities covers the span of the sixteenth-century polyphonic madrigal, from its early manifestations in Philippe Verdelot's settings of Machiavelli in the 1520's through the tortured chromatic experiments of Carlo Gesualdo. Although McClary takes the lyrics into account in shaping her readings, she focuses particularly on the details of the music itself-the principal site of the genre's self-fashionings. In order to work effectively with musical meanings in this pretonal repertory, she also develops an analytical method that allows her to unravel the sophisticated allegorical structures characteristic of the madrigal. This pathbreaking book demonstrates how we might glean insights into a culture on the basis of its nonverbal artistic enterprises. 606 $aMadrigals, Italian$zItaly$y16th century$xAnalysis, appreciation 606 $aMusical form$xHistory$y16th century 606 $aMusic theory$xHistory$y16th century 606 $aMusic and language 610 $aaesthetics. 610 $aaffect. 610 $aamarilli. 610 $aarchadelt. 610 $achoral music. 610 $achurch music. 610 $acipriano de rore. 610 $aensemble music. 610 $agender. 610 $agesualdo. 610 $aguarini. 610 $ahistory. 610 $ahuman subjectivity. 610 $aidentity. 610 $ainteriority. 610 $aitalian culture. 610 $aitaly. 610 $amachiavelli. 610 $amadrigals. 610 $amarenzio. 610 $amichelangelo. 610 $amirtillo. 610 $amonteverdi. 610 $amusic history. 610 $amusic theory. 610 $amusic. 610 $amusica nova. 610 $amusical form. 610 $amusical grammar. 610 $amusical modes. 610 $amusicology. 610 $anonfiction. 610 $arenaissance. 610 $asalome. 610 $aself fashioning. 610 $aself. 610 $asexuality. 610 $asocial history. 610 $astrauss. 610 $averdelot. 610 $awert. 610 $awillaert. 610 $azarlino. 615 0$aMadrigals, Italian$xAnalysis, appreciation. 615 0$aMusical form$xHistory 615 0$aMusic theory$xHistory 615 0$aMusic and language. 676 $a782.4/3/0945 700 $aMcClary$b Susan$01005722 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996248093703316 996 $aModal subjectivities$92312888 997 $aUNISA LEADER 03114nam 22009133a 450 001 9910346665003321 005 20250203235429.0 010 $a9783039211395 010 $a3039211390 024 8 $a10.3390/books978-3-03921-139-5 035 $a(CKB)4920000000095017 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/62728 035 $a(ScCtBLL)a5a606bd-4428-4ce1-8bc1-e695f343307a 035 $a(OCoLC)1126207717 035 $a(oapen)doab62728 035 $a(EXLCZ)994920000000095017 100 $a20250203i20192019 uu 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aWine and Vine Components and Health$fNorbert Latruffe, Jean-Pierre Rifler 210 $cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2019 210 1$aBasel, Switzerland :$cMDPI,$d2019. 215 $a1 electronic resource (154 p.) 311 08$a9783039211388 311 08$a3039211382 330 $aWhile there is a tremendous literature on the topic of wine and health ranging back to the days of Hippocrates, it is considered that there is an unlimited variety of wine, allowing for the association of senses, nutrition, and hedonism. The history of vine and wine has lasted for at least 7000 years. Vitis represent adaptable plants, and thanks to the large variety of strains, wine is an alchemical mix with unique properties, a rich and original composition in terms of polyphenols, and well known antioxidants. This explains why wine and health are closely linked to nutrition. 610 $apolyphenols 610 $ared wine 610 $aapigenin 610 $atyrosol 610 $aneurotrophic effects 610 $aneuronal differentiation 610 $aOkinawa diet 610 $acolorectal 610 $aantioxidant capacity 610 $aolive oil 610 $avine 610 $aalcohol 610 $aantioxidant 610 $aelectrochemical technology 610 $aMediterranean diet 610 $aallergy 610 $acardiovascular protection 610 $aN2a murine neuronal cells 610 $acancers 610 $adementia 610 $awine 610 $aresveratrol derivatives 610 $aRW 610 $asubstituents phenyl rings 610 $aefficacy towards diseases 610 $agrape pomace 610 $ametabolic disease 610 $aAlzheimer 610 $abiological targets 610 $awine flavonoids 610 $ametabolites characterization 610 $adiet 610 $ahydroxytyrosol 610 $ahormesis 610 $aresveratrol 610 $acardiovascular disease 610 $anrf2 610 $ahealth 610 $asynthesis strategies 610 $aEVOO 610 $acancer 610 $ahypertension 700 $aLatruffe$b Norbert$063460 702 $aRifler$b Jean-Pierre 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910346665003321 996 $aWine and Vine Components and Health$94320405 997 $aUNINA
