Since the last decade, an increasing attention from scientists and national authorities has led to significant advances in our knowledge of Bolivian fishes. To date, more than 900 fish species are known to inhabit Bolivian waters. This richness represents 6% of all freshwater fish species described worldwide, making Bolivia one of the most species rich countries. This book, first of its kind for Bolivia, presents a compilation of information on the most well-known species, including pictures, details on life history traits and maps of distribution.
