Conclusion. 330 $aThe book draws comparison between MERCOSUR and the European Union to explain variation of regionalism and to expose its limits. The project is based on the idea that contemporary examples of regionalism should be evaluated against several propositions of multiple integration theories rather than against a single theory. In order to systematically explain why and how integration outcomes in MERCOSUR differ from those in the EU, the author develops an analytical framework for the comparison of the two blocs. MERCOSUR is compared with the EU by the use of the various criteria of economic interdependence, economic convergence, intra-bloc size and interest asymmetries, cultural diversity and geostrategic motivations, which are identified as the salient parameters of integration theories. . 606 $aLatin America?Politics and government 606 $aEurope?Politics and government 606 $aComparative politics 606 $aPolitical theory 606 $aEuropean Union 606 $aRegionalism 606 $aLatin American Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911150 606 $aEuropean Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911130 606 $aComparative Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911040 606 $aPolitical Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911010 606 $aEuropean Union Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911140 606 $aRegionalism$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912050 607 $aEuropean Union countries$xForeign relations 607 $aSouth America$xForeign relations 607 $aSouth America$xEconomic integration 607 $aEurope$xEconomic integration 615 0$aLatin America?Politics and government. 615 0$aEurope?Politics and government. 615 0$aComparative politics. 615 0$aPolitical theory. 615 0$aEuropean Union. 615 0$aRegionalism. 615 14$aLatin American Politics. 615 24$aEuropean Politics. 615 24$aComparative Politics. 615 24$aPolitical Theory. 615 24$aEuropean Union Politics. 615 24$aRegionalism. 676 $a320.4 700 $aMukhametdinov$b Mikhail$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0966473 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910338031603321 996 $aMERCOSUR and the European Union$92547384 997 $aUNINA
