A closer look at the question reveals that it is far more complex and difficult to answer for the ICT, telecommunications and multi-sided platform (MSP) economy than for more traditional sectors of the economy. This has led many scholars to re-think and question whether the current merger control framework is suitable for the ICT sector, which is often also referred to as the new economy. The book pursues an interdisciplinary approach combining insights from law, economics and corporate strategy. Further, it has a comparative dimension, as it discusses the practices of the US, the EU and, wherever relevant, of other competition authorities from around the globe. Considering that the research was conducted in the EU, the practices of the European Commission remain a key aspect of the content. Considering its normative dimension, the book concentrates on the substantive aspects of merger control. To facilitate a better understanding of the most important points, the book also offers a brief overview of the procedural aspects of merger control in the EU, the US and the UK, and discusses recent amendments to Austrian and German law regarding the notification threshold. Given its scope, the book offers an invaluable guide for competition law scholars, practitioners in the field, and competition authorities worldwide. 410 0$aMunich Studies on Innovation and Competition,$x2199-7462 ;$v10 606 $aMass media 606 $aLaw 606 $aCommercial law 606 $aPrivate international law 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aComputers 606 $aLaw and legislation 606 $aCommercial law$xEuropean Economic Community countries 606 $aIT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R15009 606 $aBusiness Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/529000 606 $aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law $3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R14002 606 $aLegal Aspects of Computing$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I24059 606 $aEuropean Economic Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R20020 615 0$aMass media. 615 0$aLaw. 615 0$aCommercial law. 615 0$aPrivate international law. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aComputers. 615 0$aLaw and legislation. 615 0$aCommercial law$xEuropean Economic Community countries. 615 14$aIT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property. 615 24$aBusiness Law. 615 24$aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law . 615 24$aLegal Aspects of Computing. 615 24$aEuropean Economic Law. 676 $a338.6048094 700 $aTyagi$b Kalpana$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0786364 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337832403321 996 $aPromoting Competition in Innovation Through Merger Control in the ICT Sector$91751101 997 $aUNINA
