Dominant research literature often stereotypically claims that Japan has low crime compared to Western industrialised countries because its citizens are group-oriented, its social institutions benevolent and organised, and its public spaces are spotless and efficient. Bui and Farrington however found that there is a higher level of violence among young Japanese males compared to that among young American males. The authors use psychological criminology to investigate this claim and present what is known about crime and antisocial behaviour in Japan from a psychological perspective (e.g. mental disorders, brain dysfunction, and family criminality) and explain how this fits into the broader understanding of crime at the individual level. This original project is the most up-to-date work on crime in Japan and progresses the important, and underdeveloped, field ofcriminal psychology. . 410 0$aPalgrave Advances in Criminology and Criminal Justice in Asia,$x2946-2886 606 $aCriminology 606 $aJuvenile delinquents 606 $aJapan$xHistory 606 $aForensic psychology 606 $aEthnology$zAsia 606 $aCulture 606 $aCriminal behavior 606 $aAsian Criminology 606 $aYouth Offending and Juvenile Justice 606 $aHistory of Japan 606 $aForensic Psychology 606 $aAsian Culture 606 $aCriminal Behavior 615 0$aCriminology. 615 0$aJuvenile delinquents. 615 0$aJapan$xHistory. 615 0$aForensic psychology. 615 0$aEthnology 615 0$aCulture. 615 0$aCriminal behavior. 615 14$aAsian Criminology. 615 24$aYouth Offending and Juvenile Justice. 615 24$aHistory of Japan. 615 24$aForensic Psychology. 615 24$aAsian Culture. 615 24$aCriminal Behavior. 676 $a364.3 676 $a364.30952 700 $aBui$b Laura$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0784353 702 $aFarrington$b David P 801 0$bMiFhGG 801 1$bMiFhGG 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337830803321 996 $aCrime in Japan$92528806 997 $aUNINA
