The authors propose and illustrate a model for the analysis of the standpoint-argument connection, called Argumentum Model of Topics (AMT). A prominent feature of the AMT is that it distinguishes, within each and every single argumentation, between an inferential-procedural component, on which the reasoning process is based; and a material-contextual component, which anchors the argument in the interlocutors? cultural and factual common ground. The AMT explains how these components differ and how they are intertwined within each single argument. This model is introduced in Part II of the book, following a careful reconstruction of the enormously rich tradition of studies on inference in argumentation, from the antiquity to contemporary authors, without neglecting medieval and post-medieval contributions. The AMT is a contemporary model grounded in a dialogue with such tradition, whose crucial aspects are illuminated in this book. . 410 0$aArgumentation Library,$x1566-7650 ;$v34 606 $aComparative linguistics 606 $aLanguage and languages?Philosophy 606 $aCommunication 606 $aComparative Linguistics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/N19000 606 $aPhilosophy of Language$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/E26000 606 $aCommunication Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X28000 615 0$aComparative linguistics. 615 0$aLanguage and languages?Philosophy. 615 0$aCommunication. 615 14$aComparative Linguistics. 615 24$aPhilosophy of Language. 615 24$aCommunication Studies. 676 $a808.53 700 $aRigotti$b Eddo$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0132417 702 $aGreco$b Sara$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337726103321 996 $aInference in Argumentation$92534116 997 $aUNINA
