Its 17 chapters and five section commentaries present cutting-edge research from variationist and interactional sociolinguistics, media linguistics, language ideology research, and minority language studies. The volume advances our understanding of linguistic change in a mediatized world in three ways. First, it introduces the notions of sociolinguistic change and mediatization to create a broader theoretical framing than the one offered by 'the media' and 'language change'. Second, it takes the discussion beyond the notions of 'influence' and 'effect' and the binary distinction of 'media' vs. 'community language'. Third, it examines the relation of sociolinguistic change and mediatization and from five complementary viewpoints: media influence on linguistic structure; media engagement in interaction; change in mass and new media language; language-ideological change; and the role of media for minority languages. Bringing these strands of sociolinguistic scholarship together, this volume examines their shared references and common lines of thinking. 410 0$aLinguae & litterae ;$vVolume 36. 606 $aLinguistic change$xSocial aspects 606 $aMass media$xInfluence 606 $aSociolinguistics 610 $aLanguage Change. 610 $aMedia Influence on Language. 610 $aMediatization. 610 $aSociolinguistic Change. 615 0$aLinguistic change$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aMass media$xInfluence. 615 0$aSociolinguistics. 676 $a306.44 686 $aER 990$2rvk 702 $aAndroutsopoulos$b Jannis 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910787074203321 996 $aMediatization and sociolinguistic change$93782831 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01350nas 2200409- 450 001 9910330742703321 005 20200912060321.1 035 $a(OCoLC)858007019 035 $a(CKB)2670000000406773 035 $a(CONSER)--2014240247 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000406773 100 $a20130905a20129999 --- - 101 0 $apor 135 $aurmnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aActa Iguazu /$fProjeto SABER 210 1$aCascavel, Paraná :$cPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Energia na Agricultura da Unioeste,$d2012- 311 08$a2316-4093 606 $aAgriculture$zBrazil$zParaná (State)$vPeriodicals 606 $aAgriculture$zBrazil$vPeriodicals 606 $aAgriculture$vPeriodicals 606 $aAgriculture$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00801355 607 $aBrazil$2fast 607 $aBrazil$zParana?
