Great powers seek survival against other great powers seeking to undermine their power, position determining prestige-seeking behavior as psychotic and destructive. Weak states suffer from systemic vulnerabilities and trade whatever political power they have to a great power for economic assistance. If enough weak states support a particular great power, then that great power will become more powerful relative to competitors. This forms an international system fashioned by these transactions.  Hanna Samir Kassab is Assistant Professor at Northern Michigan University, USA. 606 $aInternational relations 606 $aInternational organization 606 $aSecurity, International 606 $aDiplomacy 606 $aPolitics and war 606 $aInternational Relations Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912110 606 $aInternational Organization$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912010 606 $aInternational Security Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912120 606 $aForeign Policy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912040 606 $aDiplomacy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912020 606 $aMilitary and Defence Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912080 615 0$aInternational relations. 615 0$aInternational organization. 615 0$aSecurity, International. 615 0$aDiplomacy. 615 0$aPolitics and war. 615 14$aInternational Relations Theory. 615 24$aInternational Organization. 615 24$aInternational Security Studies. 615 24$aForeign Policy. 615 24$aDiplomacy. 615 24$aMilitary and Defence Studies. 676 $a303.30973 700 $aKassab$b Hanna Samir$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0934986 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300525803321 996 $aGrand Strategies of Weak States and Great Powers$92105540 997 $aUNINA
