Youth unemployment was one of the major factors triggering the Tunisian revolution, and continues to be a central socio-economic challenge. The Tunisian labour market is marked by a strong increase of higher education graduates while the economic system is dominated by sectors mainly employing a less qualified labour force. This study investigates current labour market trends, and provides insights into the underlying causes of persisting high youth unemployment. The author argues that economic crisis, difficult political conditions since 2011, and inefficient labour market policies did not foster sufficient job creation, and that special attention needs to be paid to the educational causes of the skill mismatch in youth employment in future sustainable development models. . 410 0$aMiddle East Today 606 $aMiddle East?Politics and government 606 $aMiddle East?Economic conditions 606 $aAfrica?Politics and government 606 $aReligion and politics 606 $aIdentity politics 606 $aMiddle Eastern Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911160 606 $aMiddle Eastern and North African Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W45050 606 $aAfrican Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911090 606 $aPolitics and Religion$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911250 606 $aPolitics and Gender$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911260 615 0$aMiddle East?Politics and government. 615 0$aMiddle East?Economic conditions. 615 0$aAfrica?Politics and government. 615 0$aReligion and politics. 615 0$aIdentity politics. 615 14$aMiddle Eastern Politics. 615 24$aMiddle Eastern and North African Economics. 615 24$aAfrican Politics. 615 24$aPolitics and Religion. 615 24$aPolitics and Gender. 676 $a320.956 700 $aSchaefer$b Isabel$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0917432 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300524503321 996 $aPolitical Revolt and Youth Unemployment in Tunisia$92057049 997 $aUNINA
