The author examines how the concepts of forced displacement and migration could be formulas for historical erasure. These concepts are used to name populations, such as the survivors of this massacre, and are limited in their ability to contribute to the demands for reparation of the affected populations. Instead, based on an ethnographic study of the pain and suffering generated in the survivors, the book proposes the concept of deracination as a tool to study land dispossession. It captures both the complex local specificities, the global linkages of this phenomenon and the strategies of resistance used by the people of this community to channel what seems as an impossible mourning. . 410 0$aPalgrave pivot. 606 $aAmerica$xPolitics and government 606 $aEmigration and immigration 606 $aHuman rights 606 $aEthnology 606 $aAmerica$xHistory 606 $aAmerican Politics 606 $aHuman Migration 606 $aHuman Rights 606 $aEthnography 606 $aHistory of the Americas 615 0$aAmerica$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aEmigration and immigration. 615 0$aHuman rights. 615 0$aEthnology. 615 0$aAmerica$xHistory. 615 14$aAmerican Politics. 615 24$aHuman Migration. 615 24$aHuman Rights. 615 24$aEthnography. 615 24$aHistory of the Americas. 676 $a320.4 700 $aVergara-Figueroa$b Aurora$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0917426 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300514403321 996 $aAfrodescendant Resistance to Deracination in Colombia$92057039 997 $aUNINA
