Varisco uses concepts and notions from the literature on the policy process and research utilisation to explore the ways in which research has influenced UK-led SSR policy. Here, the author analyses the evolution of the network of policy-makers, street-level bureaucrats, and researchers working on SSR in Sierra Leone, and argues that two main variables ? an increased stability in the country and a progressive evolution of SSR in policy and research ? contributed to the expansion of the policy network over time and to a better use of research by street-level bureaucrats on the ground. This title derives from the Sierra Leone case study a series of recommendations to improve the use of research by international organisations and bilateral donors working in fragile states. 606 $aAfrica?Politics and government 606 $aPolitics and war 606 $aAfrican Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911090 606 $aMilitary and Defence Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912080 607 $aSierra Leone$xForeign relations$zGreat Britain 607 $aGreat Britain$xForeign relations$zSierra Leone 607 $aSierra Leone$xHistory, Military 615 0$aAfrica?Politics and government. 615 0$aPolitics and war. 615 14$aAfrican Politics. 615 24$aMilitary and Defence Studies. 676 $a320.96 700 $aVarisco$b Andrea Edoardo$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0980201 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300506403321 996 $aResearch in Security Sector Reform Policy$92235867 997 $aUNINA
