These include the first direct observation of jet quenching through the observation of a centrality-dependent dijet asymmetry. Also, a series of jet suppression measurements are presented, which provide quantitative constraints on theoretical models of jet quenching. These results follow a detailed introduction to heavy ion physics with emphasis on the phenomenon of jet quenching and a comprehensive description of the ATLAS detector and its capabilities with regard to performing these measurements. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 606 $aNuclear physics 606 $aHeavy ions 606 $aMathematical physics 606 $aParticle acceleration 606 $aPhysical measurements 606 $aMeasurement 606 $aNuclear Physics, Heavy Ions, Hadrons$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P23010 606 $aTheoretical, Mathematical and Computational Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19005 606 $aParticle Acceleration and Detection, Beam Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P23037 606 $aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P31040 615 0$aNuclear physics. 615 0$aHeavy ions. 615 0$aMathematical physics. 615 0$aParticle acceleration. 615 0$aPhysical measurements. 615 0$aMeasurement. 615 14$aNuclear Physics, Heavy Ions, Hadrons. 615 24$aTheoretical, Mathematical and Computational Physics. 615 24$aParticle Acceleration and Detection, Beam Physics. 615 24$aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation. 676 $a530.1 700 $aAngerami$b Aaron$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0791357 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300372103321 996 $aJet Quenching in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions at the LHC$91768738 997 $aUNINA
