Emphasis is given on ideas and intuition, avoiding the heavy computations which are usually involved in the study of wavelets.  Readers should have a basic knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, and some familiarity with complex analysis.  Basic knowledge of signal and image processing is desirable. This text originated from a set of notes in Portuguese that the authors wrote for a wavelet course on the Brazilian Mathematical Colloquium in 1997 at IMPA, Rio de Janeiro. 410 0$aIMPA Monographs ;$v3 606 $aFourier analysis 606 $aHarmonic analysis 606 $aSignal processing 606 $aImage processing 606 $aSpeech processing systems 606 $aFourier Analysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12058 606 $aAbstract Harmonic Analysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12015 606 $aSignal, Image and Speech Processing$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24051 615 0$aFourier analysis. 615 0$aHarmonic analysis. 615 0$aSignal processing. 615 0$aImage processing. 615 0$aSpeech processing systems. 615 14$aFourier Analysis. 615 24$aAbstract Harmonic Analysis. 615 24$aSignal, Image and Speech Processing. 676 $a510 700 $aGomes$b Jonas$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0755637 702 $aVelho$b Luiz$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300249703321 996 $aFrom Fourier Analysis to Wavelets$92494804 997 $aUNINA
