Generally speaking, the prerequisites do not go beyond basic mathematical material and are accessible to many undergraduates. The contents mainly concern diophantine problems on affine curves, in practice describing the integer solutions of equations in two variables. This case historically suggested some major ideas for more general problems. Starting with linear and quadratic equations, the important connections with Diophantine Approximation are presented and Thue's celebrated results are proved in full detail. In later chapters more modern issues on heights of algebraic points are dealt with, and applied to a sharp quantitative treatment of the unit equation. The book also contains several Supplements, hinted exercises and an Appendix on recent work on heights. 410 0$aLecture Notes (Scuola Normale Superiore) ;$v8 606 $aMathematical analysis 606 $aAnalysis (Mathematics) 606 $aAnalysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12007 615 0$aMathematical analysis. 615 0$aAnalysis (Mathematics). 615 14$aAnalysis. 676 $a512.74 700 $aZannier$b Umberto$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0149228 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299974803321 996 $aLecture Notes on Diophantine Analysis$91564806 997 $aUNINA
