It also highlights the state of the art in this research area with respect to different computational methods, software development and applications to engineering structures.  The first part focuses on defects in composite materials including their numerical and experimental investigations; elastic as well as elastoplastic constitutive models are considered, where the modeling has been performed at macro- and micro levels. The second part is devoted to novel computational schemes applied on different scales and discusses the validation of numerical results. The third part discusses gradient enhanced modeling, in particular quasi-brittle and ductile damage, using the gradient enhanced approach. The final part addresses thermoplasticity, solid-liquid mixtures and ferroelectric models. The contents are based on the international workshop ?Multiscale Modeling of Heterogeneous Structures? (MUMO 2016), held in Dubrovnik, Croatia in September 2016. 410 0$aLecture Notes in Applied and Computational Mechanics,$x1613-7736 ;$v86 606 $aMechanics 606 $aMechanics, Applied 606 $aEngineering design 606 $aCeramics 606 $aGlass 606 $aComposites (Materials) 606 $aComposite materials 606 $aSolid Mechanics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T15010 606 $aEngineering Design$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T17020 606 $aCeramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z18000 615 0$aMechanics. 615 0$aMechanics, Applied. 615 0$aEngineering design. 615 0$aCeramics. 615 0$aGlass. 615 0$aComposites (Materials). 615 0$aComposite materials. 615 14$aSolid Mechanics. 615 24$aEngineering Design. 615 24$aCeramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materials. 676 $a539.72015157 702 $aSori?$b Jurica$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aWriggers$b Peter$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aAllix$b Olivier$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299887303321 996 $aMultiscale Modeling of Heterogeneous Structures$92532494 997 $aUNINA
