This volume contains a selection of lectures presented at a conference that was organised as a forum for all mathematicians using semigroup theory to learn what is happening outside their own field of research. The collection will help to establish a number of new links between various sub-disciplines of semigroup theory, stochastic processes, differential equations and the applied fields. The theory of semigroups of operators is a well-developed branch of functional analysis. Its foundations were laid at the beginning of the 20th century, while the fundamental generation theorem of Hille and Yosida dates back to the forties. The theory was, from the very beginning, designed as a universal language for partial differential equations and stochastic processes, but at the same time it started to live as an independent branch of operator theory. Nowadays, it still has the same distinctive flavour: it develops rapidly by posing new ?internal? questions and, in answering them, discovering new methods that can be used in applications. On the other hand, it is influenced by questions from PDEs and stochastic processes as well as from applied sciences such as mathematical biology and optimal control, and thus it continually gathers a new momentum. Researchers and postgraduate students working in operator theory, partial differential equations, probability and stochastic processes, analytical methods in biology and other natural sciences, optimization and optimal control will find this volume useful. 410 0$aSpringer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics,$x2194-1009 ;$v113 606 $aOperator theory 606 $aProbabilities 606 $aMathematical physics 606 $aDifferential equations 606 $aFunctional analysis 606 $aIntegral equations 606 $aOperator Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12139 606 $aProbability Theory and Stochastic Processes$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M27004 606 $aMathematical Applications in the Physical Sciences$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M13120 606 $aOrdinary Differential Equations$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12147 606 $aFunctional Analysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12066 606 $aIntegral Equations$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12090 615 0$aOperator theory. 615 0$aProbabilities. 615 0$aMathematical physics. 615 0$aDifferential equations. 615 0$aFunctional analysis. 615 0$aIntegral equations. 615 14$aOperator Theory. 615 24$aProbability Theory and Stochastic Processes. 615 24$aMathematical Applications in the Physical Sciences. 615 24$aOrdinary Differential Equations. 615 24$aFunctional Analysis. 615 24$aIntegral Equations. 676 $a510 676 $a515.352 676 $a515.45 676 $a515.7 702 $aBanasiak$b Jacek$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBobrowski$b Adam$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aLachowicz$b Miros?aw$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299773003321 996 $aSemigroups of Operators ?
