In the study, Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to obtain the reliability index or failure probability of steel columns protected by ICs subjected to compartment fires.  The effect of aging of intumescent coatings on the failure probability of protected steel columns was investigated by using variable insulation property of intumescent coatings in the simulation. The test data on aging effect on insulation property of intumescent coatings from literature was used. Based on the reliability analysis, a probabilistic approach is given to determine the service life of intumescent coatings for steel columns. In that approach, the failure probability of the protected steel columns is compared with the target probability of the structural fire design. The approach can also be used for probabilistic analysis of steel columns protected by conventional inert fire protection materials. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 606 $aBuilding materials 606 $aStructural materials 606 $aQuality control 606 $aReliability 606 $aIndustrial safety 606 $aBuilding Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23047 606 $aStructural Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z11000 606 $aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T22032 615 0$aBuilding materials. 615 0$aStructural materials. 615 0$aQuality control. 615 0$aReliability. 615 0$aIndustrial safety. 615 14$aBuilding Materials. 615 24$aStructural Materials. 615 24$aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk. 676 $a671.73 700 $aZhang$b Chao$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0672955 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299705903321 996 $aReliability of Steel Columns Protected by Intumescent Coatings Subjected to Natural Fires$91412808 997 $aUNINA
