The topics covered are wide ranging and include historical aspects and examples of the use of timber-framed construction systems in response to earthquakes, such as the gaiola system in Portugal and the Bourbon system in southern Italy; interpretation of the response of timber-framed walls to seismic actions based on calculations and experimental tests; assessment of the effectiveness of repair and strengthening techniques, e.g., using aramid fiber wires or sheets; and modelling analyses. In addition, on the basis of case studies, a methodology is presented that is applicable to diagnosis, strengthening, and improvement of seismic performance and is compatible with modern theoretical principles and conservation criteria. It is hoped that, by contributing to the knowledge of this construction technique, the book will help to promote conservation of this important component of Europe?s architectural heritage. 606 $aLight construction 606 $aSteel construction 606 $aLightweight construction 606 $aBuilding repair 606 $aBuildings?Repair and reconstruction 606 $aEngineering geology 606 $aEngineering?Geology 606 $aFoundations 606 $aHydraulics 606 $aArchitecture 606 $aLight Construction, Steel Construction, Timber Construction$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23100 606 $aBuilding Repair and Maintenance$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23055 606 $aGeoengineering, Foundations, Hydraulics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23020 606 $aArchitectural History and Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/K12008 615 0$aLight construction. 615 0$aSteel construction. 615 0$aLightweight construction. 615 0$aBuilding repair. 615 0$aBuildings?Repair and reconstruction. 615 0$aEngineering geology. 615 0$aEngineering?Geology. 615 0$aFoundations. 615 0$aHydraulics. 615 0$aArchitecture. 615 14$aLight Construction, Steel Construction, Timber Construction. 615 24$aBuilding Repair and Maintenance. 615 24$aGeoengineering, Foundations, Hydraulics. 615 24$aArchitectural History and Theory. 676 $a620 676 $a624.15 676 $a690.24 676 $a693 676 $a720 702 $aRuggieri$b Nicola$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTampone$b Gennaro$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aZinno$b Raffaele$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299684303321 996 $aHistorical Earthquake-Resistant Timber Frames in the Mediterranean Area$91466016 997 $aUNINA
