The topics covered in the text range from the basic operation of an ultrasonic NDT system to the simulation of the measurement operations; from the choice and generation of the signals energizing the system to the different ways of exploiting the probes and their output signals; and from quality assessment evaluation to the use of soft computing techniques for classification. Throughout the text, an effort is made to embrace a system view where the physical and technological aspects of sensing are addressed together with higher abstraction levels, such as signal and information processing. Consequently, the book aims at guiding the reader through the various tasks requested for developing a complete ultrasonic imaging system for nondestructive testing, up to the perspective goal of automatic classification of the outputs of a production line. The presentation is reinforced by many applicable examples, proposed in the last chapters. The content of this book is the result of the common effort of four University Research Groups that focused their research activities for two years on this specific objective, working in direct conjunction with primary industrial firms, in a research project funded by the Italian government as a Strategic Research Project. ·         Discusses the cycle from signal generation, propagation, collection by sensors, and data analysis ·         Covers the implementation of ultrasonic NDT techniques in the perspective of a complete system setup including classification of product line output ·         Presents recent theoretical advances and fundamental issues for their practical implementation. 606 $aElectrical engineering 606 $aComputer networks 606 $aSound 606 $aPhysical measurements 606 $aMeasurement 606 $aQuality control 606 $aReliability 606 $aIndustrial safety 606 $aCommunications Engineering, Networks$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24035 606 $aComputer Communication Networks$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I13022 606 $aAcoustics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P21069 606 $aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P31040 606 $aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T22032 615 0$aElectrical engineering. 615 0$aComputer networks. 615 0$aSound. 615 0$aPhysical measurements. 615 0$aMeasurement. 615 0$aQuality control. 615 0$aReliability. 615 0$aIndustrial safety. 615 14$aCommunications Engineering, Networks. 615 24$aComputer Communication Networks. 615 24$aAcoustics. 615 24$aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation. 615 24$aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk. 676 $a004.6 676 $a530.8 676 $a534 676 $a620 702 $aBurrascano$b Pietro$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aCallegari$b Sergio$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aMontisci$b Augusto$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aRicci$b Marco$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aVersaci$b Mario$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299670503321 996 $aUltrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Systems$91412904 997 $aUNINA
