Conclusion. 330 $aThis book concerns the pursuit of wisdom in education, and the argument that wisdom ? personified here as Sophia ? is tragically marginalised or absent in current Western epistemological discourses. It includes a review of key historical and classical framings which have lost much potency and relevance as certain cultural narratives hold sway; these include the reductionist, technicist and highly instrumentalist discourses which shape the articulation and delivery of much education policy and practice, whilst reflecting similar troubling framings from broader neoliberal perspectives. Fraser argues that wisdom?s marginalisation has had, and continues to have, profoundly deleterious consequences for our educative practices. Through a compelling combination of narrative and autoethnographic techniques, while also drawing on philosophical and cultural traditions, the book pushes at the boundaries of emerging knowledge, including how knowledge is generated. It will be of interest to those who facilitate the learning of adults in a variety of settings as well as to students and supervisors seeking exemplars and 'justification' for working in non-traditional ways. . 606 $aLifelong learning 606 $aAdult education 606 $aEducational sociology 606 $aEducation?Philosophy 606 $aAlternative Education 606 $aEducational sociology  606 $aEducation and sociology 606 $aEducation?Research 606 $aLifelong Learning/Adult Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O42000 606 $aSociology of Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O29000 606 $aEducational Philosophy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O38000 606 $aAlternative Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O51000 606 $aSociology of Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22070 606 $aResearch Methods in Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O54000 615 0$aLifelong learning. 615 0$aAdult education. 615 0$aEducational sociology. 615 0$aEducation?Philosophy. 615 0$aAlternative Education. 615 0$aEducational sociology . 615 0$aEducation and sociology. 615 0$aEducation?Research. 615 14$aLifelong Learning/Adult Education. 615 24$aSociology of Education. 615 24$aEducational Philosophy. 615 24$aAlternative Education. 615 24$aSociology of Education. 615 24$aResearch Methods in Education. 676 $a374 700 $aFraser$b Wilma$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01062991 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299547003321 996 $aSeeking Wisdom in Adult Teaching and Learning$92529521 997 $aUNINA
