The advent of the Internet era, on the other hand, has resulted in disruptive changes in traditional inter-organizational networks, and some completely new inter-organizational settings are now arising. In its first part the book reviews the most commonly cited theories explaining inter-organizational phenomena: transaction costs economics, agency theory, resource dependence theory, game theories, collaborative networks theory, institutional theories, organizational ecology, resource-based / relational-based view of the firm, and knowledge network / social network theories. In Part II it thoroughly reviews the literature on a number of key IT-enabled inter-organizational systems currently on the rise, such as virtual organizations, e-intermediators and e-marketplaces. Lastly, Part III presents the case of the Yoox Group, a leading firm offering e-commerce services for fashion and design products. A framework is proposed for systematically linking the different possible types of inter-organizational relationships to specific, suitable sets of theories. The range of possible inter-organizational relationships is described on the basis of three pairs of opposites: conformism-breach, exploitation-exploration, and cooperation-competition. This results in a model that makes it possible to combine different theories in order to study the effects of inter-organizational ambidexterity and dynamism on performance. 410 0$aContributions to Management Science,$x1431-1941 606 $aInformation technology 606 $aBusiness?Data processing 606 $aEconomic sociology 606 $aOrganization 606 $aPlanning 606 $aManagement 606 $aIndustrial management 606 $aLeadership 606 $aIT in Business$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/522000 606 $aOrganizational Studies, Economic Sociology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22020 606 $aOrganization$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/516000 606 $aInnovation/Technology Management$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/518000 606 $aBusiness Strategy/Leadership$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/515010 615 0$aInformation technology. 615 0$aBusiness?Data processing. 615 0$aEconomic sociology. 615 0$aOrganization. 615 0$aPlanning. 615 0$aManagement. 615 0$aIndustrial management. 615 0$aLeadership. 615 14$aIT in Business. 615 24$aOrganizational Studies, Economic Sociology. 615 24$aOrganization. 615 24$aInnovation/Technology Management. 615 24$aBusiness Strategy/Leadership. 676 $a306.3 676 $a330 676 $a650 676 $a658.1 676 $a658.4092 676 $a658514 700 $aRossignoli$b Cecilia$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$089405 702 $aRicciardi$b Francesca$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910298505203321 996 $aInter-Organizational Relationships$92543136 997 $aUNINA
