After consideration of the diversity of fish and sea turtles, guidelines were developed for broad groups of animals, defined by the way they detect sound. Different sound sources were considered in terms of their acoustic characteristics and appropriate metrics defined for measurement of the received levels. The resultant sound exposure guidelines are presented in a set of tables. In some cases numerical guidelines are provided, expressed in appropriate metrics. When there were insufficient data to support numerical values, the relative likelihood of effects occurring was evaluated, although the actual likelihood of effects depends on the received level. These sound exposure guidelines, which are based on the best scientific information at the time of writing, should be treated as interim. The expectation is that with more research the guidelines can be refined and more cells in the tables completed. Recommendations are put forward defining the research requirements of highest priority for extending these interim exposure guidelines.   . 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Oceanography,$x2196-1212 606 $aNoise control 606 $aOtorhinolaryngology 606 $aAcoustics 606 $aOceanography 606 $aNoise Control$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U27004 606 $aOtorhinolaryngology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H46007 606 $aAcoustics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P21069 606 $aOceanography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/G25005 615 0$aNoise control. 615 0$aOtorhinolaryngology. 615 0$aAcoustics. 615 0$aOceanography. 615 14$aNoise Control. 615 24$aOtorhinolaryngology. 615 24$aAcoustics. 615 24$aOceanography. 676 $a591.1914 700 $aPopper$b Arthur N$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0935643 702 $aHawkins$b Anthony D$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aFay$b Richard R$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aMann$b David A$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aBartol$b Soraya$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aCarlson$b Thomas J$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aCoombs$b Sheryl$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aEllison$b William T$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aGentry$b Roger L$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aHalvorsen$b Michele B$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aLøkkeborg$b Svein$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aRogers$b Peter H$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aSouthall$b Brandon L$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aZeddies$b David G$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aTavolga$b William N$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910298373803321 996 $aASA S3$92510057 997 $aUNINA
